When did you stop swaddling? DD is still swaddled at 5mos...

is that bad? She never starting turning over, dr. said some babies skip milestones. She sleeps on her side sometimes but always gets her hands out of the swaddle at some point thru the night so I was never worried. we just continue to swaddle b/c it helps her to fall asleep. I read a bunch of posts about stopping the swaddle and was just wondering if its bad that we still do it at 5 mos. although she will nap without it, its just easier when she's wrapped. I never want to stop!!!!!!Chat Icon

Hey girl!
I never swaddled Mason, but funny you ask b/c now that he rolls over and sleeps on his belly I notice he sleeps better if I make the blanket tight around him. I don't put it completely over him... just over his butt b/c I want it low and keep him warm, but b/c he's been pulling out his paci while sleeping in the middle of the night I've been tucking his arm in the blanket when he sleeps so he won't grab the paci and it worked.

I think you can still swaddle as long as DD is happy. She sounds like she likes sleeping on her back. Mason will only sleep on his belly or side. I put the blanket on after he falls asleep.

I stopped swaddling around 3 months because DS was kicking it off and it was bunching up all around him. I don't think it's bad you still use it if DD doesn't roll over, but I would start to wean it. Like leave one arm out for a few nights then both arms out...

We stopped swaddling DS when he was about 4 months because he started rolling over in his sleep.

To be honest with you, we would have kept him swaddled forever if we could because I was convinced it was the only way he would sleep and was TERRIFIED of stopping the swaddle! Chat Icon

If swaddling is still working for you and DD is not rolling around, I say if it ain't broke, why fix it???
