How did you know it was time to stop Swaddling?

Jake has been in his crib for almost two weeks. Since then, we have had swaddling issues and it seems to be getting worse. He is breaking free and crying in the middle of the night. He goes down nice, but he starts to break free and fuss around 4am - around the time he used to get his bottle. He is 12 weeks old.

Once we re-swaddle him, he falls back asleep only to wake 30 mins later with the same issue. He won't sleep in his crib unless he is swaddled (I have tried for naps) so I'm not sure what to do, or if he is trying to tell me something.

this is what happened to us - DS started breaking out of the swaddle and he would wake up crying.

we took it away - cold turkey - and it took about 3 nights of him waking himself up tossing and turning before he was able to sleep well without it. i would substitute a sleep sack so he has something.

DS would break out of it...sometimes when he woke up in the morning it would be on him backwards...then we knew it was time to give it up. We did have a difficult first few nights after stopping it. However, after that is was fine. We actually started to use the sleep sacks and I LOVE them

We used the miracle blanket and it was great for us - for about a week - then DS learned to wiggle it up and we'd find him with it over his head. That was the end of that. Plus, he started rolling over at 11-12wks so we couldn't continue to swaddle anymore.

He kept breaking out of it. The only one he can't break out of is the miracle blanket...lol
