Is red velvet an inappropriate flavor cake for a 2yo bday cake?

We will be getting cupcakes for all the kiddies at the kid table. I'm thinking simple vanilla on vanilla for the kids.

Would it be ok to get a red velvet cake for the actual bday cake?

The cake is going to serve the adults. I should probably add that DS doesn't even like cake so he it's more than likely that he won't be eating either.

I personally don't because of all the red dye used to make a red velvet cake. So I would only serve that cake to adults.

I just personally don't like it for this reason, turns me off from ever tasting it. You know your guests, and I'm sure kids prefer cupcakes.

If it's for the adults, YUM! I don't think it would really matter unless DS specifically wanted a chocolate cake or something...

Not all red velvet has red dye. They are actually suppose to use beets to make it red.

I thought it was red because of the chemical reaction between the chocolate and vinegar.

the red that is created is not as asthetically pleasing as when you add a touch of beet dye.

it looks kinda funky to be honest. Chat Icon tastes good though!
