Cancelling credit cards and re-opeing them just close them again, is bad for you credit score.
Not really.
Cancelling cards you opened recently does absolutely nothing to your credit score. I have proved this time and time again from experience.
Opening new cards can lower your credit score... but only minimally. Typically 2-3 points per inquiry.
Now if you cancel a credit card that is 10 years old... different story.
In the last year I applied for 22 new cards, and I have cancelled about 10 of them.
My Transunion score is currently 779 according to TrueCredit.com.

I hope to be debt free in a few years...I have so far, paid off 3 credit cards...granted they had small balances (under $200) but it is still 3 less bills a month

together we have one card with a 3k balance
0% interest
but that's nothing and it will be paid by january.....
 we use that card for purchases for points/rewards etc...

Nope. No CC debit!
We pay off in full each month. and No we do not make a lot of money...and some months we struggle to pay it.
We just go without stuff that month if we needed to purchase something big

It's pretty much all mine. But I pay as much as I can each month and only use the cards for big things that I want covered like plane tix.

we dont have any. We dont use credit cards. On the rare occasion that we do, its just for the points , then we pay it off right away

We pay every month, no debt. We do use our credit cards for everything though, including our rent, b/c we get $$ back so why not? We are in control of it. The only debt we have is car loans and school loans

DH and I are not as lucky but we are working to get it paid.

Another "none" here. We had a few thousand years ago and worked hard to pay it off.
We thought buying a house would force us to use them. Instead, we use the same thought someone else said - if we can't afford to pay cash, we don't buy it.
By this time next year, the only debt we will have is our mortgage.

We have about $1200 mostly because of work traveling that I will be reimbursed for.
I'm terrified of credit card debt, and will cut hubby's balls off if he uses them.

right now - none!
we had a small amount from school books about a month ago, that's the last thing i can remember us having on there since over a year ago... but vin paid it off right away. it was about 300 dollars worth of books. good thing is - we paid it and then actually got a check from student aid which paid for them! so we were totally reimbursed! we really didn't expect to get anything - what a nice surprise. i guess we really are poor if they are giving us money! hahaha!

We pay it off in full each month.
We did just order new PVC with interest free financing for a year.
That is our only debt that carries a monthly balance.

We pay it off completely at the end of each month. We will be inquiring some debt this month though to pay for our IVF cycle but we are taking advantage of 0% from AMEX for one year.
