Yummy breakfast I made for Ava out of desperation today...
So, Ava has been eating pancakes every friggin day for breakfast this week. It's all she asks for. So today, I put my foot down (ok, not really, I still told her it was a pancake ), and decided to make french toast. But I was out of the cinnamon raisin bread that I usually use, so instead I made her french toast with whole grain bread, which seemed yucky and plain to me, so I sliced up half a banana, sauteed it with some cinnamon and brown sugar (a little bit), and then I spread it on the french toast (after it was cooked) and placed it face down on the skillet to kind of carmelize it.
She scarfed it down! She loved it. Anyway, thought I would share.

My sons wouldnt eat french toast
(i make it w/whole wheat also) until I cut them into sticks, and let them dip it into their yogurt(weird,i know!)
they LOVE it now& ask for it every morning!

That's what Ava will get come September when her daddy is making breakfast. This is my way of making up for the horrible food she gets served while I'm at work

Sounds delicious!!!! How do you get Ava to be patient while you cook?? As soon as my DD knows something is going on with a meal (even if it's just the preparation), she can't wait. She'll have a total melt down! All of our meals are real quick preparation. I have to pre-make lots of stuff (even pancakes) on the weekends & freeze it for future use. It gets frustrating.

If she gets impatient, I give her a handful of cheerios, but usually, she's so involved with playing that she doesn't even notice I'm doing anything

If you guys are interested in that, I make something similiar for Joseph and he inhales it! The recipe is:
Applesauce French Toast
(3 servings)
2 eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 cup applesauce
6 slices of white bread
In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs, milk, cinnamon, sugar and applesauce; mix well.
Soak bread one slice at a time until saturated with liquid.
Cook on a lightly greased skillet or griddle over medium/high heat until lightly browned on both sides. Serve hot.
To make the presentation pretty I swirl a little caramel on the plate and I use my apple slicer to cut up fresh apples and put them on the plate too.

Deb, that looks delicious! now I know what I'm making Ava tomorrow (I say tomorrow because I forsee a trip to the supermarket in my future. I have no idea what the hell I'm going to come up with today )
