This one is pretty up there... There was the blizzard of 1996, I was in 7th grade and that ONE storm got us a week off from school (and saved my behind with a science fair project). I think we got 3 or 4 feet of snow from that one storm.
The blizzard of 96! I'll never forget it!

I was a little kid but the blizzard of 83 sticks out in my mind. Also there were some really bad winters in 94 and 96 too. This one has been more annoying than anything because it has gone on for so many weeks. The other ones were just really bad but for a shorter time frame if my memory serves me correctly.

This! This one is the worst I can remember as far as frequency of snow and cold temps! But the blizzards of 94 and 96 stand out too. I lived in BKLYN and city schools never ever closed...I think I got my first ever snow day in 94 in 6th grade!
I don't find this winter that bad actually. It's snowing frequently but the accumulations really aren't that big of a deal overall. Maybe I'm just skewed because winter doesn't bother me. lol
I do remember some winters where is snowed frequently as well but the snow amounts were just crazy and we were digging out for hours. Winters of 2001-2002 and I think 2003-2004 stick out in my mind as some bad ones.

We definitely had a winter like this a few years back. I can't remember exactly when. But I remember every time the snow would melt and we started to see grass, then more kept getting dumped on us. I remember that the grass never showed that entire winter. This has happened before.
The ones that stand out in my mind the most was the blizzard in 96, 2011 and of course last years in February. I think the one in 2012 was one of the worst actually. I remember almost getting 3 feet where I was. It was nuts. And all those cars that got stuck!

96 had a lot of snow. I remember we lost a lot of days of school not that I was complaining back than.
I think the worst storm I ever saw was last winter. That storm literally stranded people all over LI and I had never in my lifetime seen anything like that.
Overall I don't think this winter is that bad. We've had snow frequently but not massive storms and its cleared fairly quickly.

I totally agree with '94 & '96!!! I was in college at SUNY Oswego ( just north of Syracuse) and it was so bad. They would cart most of the snow away to some designated spot, but those years it was so bad the snow that covered the side walks was higher than the bus shelters....

Worst Winter You Can Remember
I don't really remember 96. I remember specific storms like February of '03 being bad. I was in college and snuck home to spend V-day w/ my bf (now DH). My parents were away w/ my sister. I was stuck home for 3 days b/c of the snow! I left the day they were getting back lol.
I also remember December 2010-January/February 2011 being bad.
Of course last Feb's blizzard was terrible.
And this one just sucks. I feel like the snow/cold is never ending.
ETA: This winter sucks especially since I'm pregnant. I'm terrified as it is to drive in this crap and now even more so.

We built an 8 ft tall igloo during the blizzard of 2003!
The winter of 2010-2011 I was pregnant with my DD and I couldn't help DH shovel. I felt so bad because every week we had a major storm and he was out there all by himself.

1996 was brutal! I was so pissed I couldn't go clubbing a couple of weekends but I did get so much studying done for my midterms!
Also winter of 2011 is also up there. We got a couple of huge snowstorms.

It is possible when you get snowstorm after snowstorm and a lot of snow each time. My EXH was working in a school and barely worked those 3 months b/c of all the days off.
This pic is just from one snow storm. The red car is my car buried in the snow. It was up to my waist.
It was not a fun winter.

2010-11.
My DH conveniently hurt himself in December and was on crutches the entire winter
I got the privilege of waiting on him hand and foot AND doing all some removal/shoveling alone. It felt like we got huge storms on a weekly basis with huge snow totals, not just a few inches.

Definitely the winter of '93-'94. It was like an artic tundra complete with layers of ice on top of snow pack. I remember being stuck in the house for weeks.

Oh yes, that one...I remember ice skating in my backyard. Literally putting on ice skates and skating in my pajamas!

We had record snow and ice.
I remember Kenneth ice skating in his hockey skates on the FRONT LAWN  It was like over a foot of snow, maybe more at that point, and it had frozen over on top - it was a solid and flat sheet of ice! So cool!

Not here, but in Toronto. My senior year in high school so 2003. It was so bad we had to call in the Canadian equivalent of the National Guard to take snow on trucks and dump it outside the city - there was nowhere left to plow to. We had snow banks in parking lots until June. I had 2 or 3 snow days that year, when comparatively speaking my entire school career before that year I had maybe 5 TOTAL (school doesn't really close in Canada for snow often).
That was a doozy.

Early April.
I was starting a job and remember specifically it snowing. And not just a few flakes. Like legit snowing in April.
