me!!!!!!!


i live in a second floor coop. i went down the stairs to answer the door. next thing i hear is bang bang bang. i look up and here comes joseph falling down the stairs!!!!!!!

if you could only see it happen.

hes ok. if you saw his face and shoulder you would cry as much as i did and am. the whole left side is scraped and all red... his eye will most def be swollen and both eye and shoulder will be black and blue.


and the thing is NOBODY is around. i tried to call my MIL, DH, and a few friends

this be a lesson to everyone! no matter how well your kids can climb the stairs there is still always that chance!!

question: sooo hes playing and stuf it def looks like the shoulder hurts him should i take him to be looked at or wait till the AM and see how hes doing. (btw the schneiders children center is around the block is a walkin urgent care center)

Don't be so hard on yourself... they dont remember it! I cna't tell you how many times my kids have tumbled off my front stoop (it's all cement) because we have no railing on the side (long story!!).

I am sure he is fine. Settle in and take it easy

You are not the worst mom! They are kids. It's going to happen. I am so sorry it happened and Im glad he's ok.

Accidents happen. He's ok. I'm sure you are both shaken up a bit... it's scary and it's natural to blame yourself... unfortunately, things will happen even right under our noses.

Accidents happen, don't beat yourself up I'm sure if he was really hurt you would know. It can probably wait until tomorrow. Sorry that happened, how scary!

My poor little guy....

Im neurotic when it comes to stairs. Ariel fell down a flight of basement stairs...twice! She was around 3 years old. It is truly a sound that you keep replaying over and over in your head.

Accidents happen...that's why they call them accidents. Both of those boys are so good on the stairs..Dont beat yourself up over it.

As far as his shoulder is concerned...hand him a toy and see if he is using both arms equally. If he appears to be favoring one over the other or not using the hurt one at all then I would maybe take him....Ariel broke her collar bone. But we didnt know it until the following day!!!!

Oh no....you are a WONDERFUL mother! Don't ever say that!

I agree with Heather....hand him a toy and see how he plays with it. I hope he's okay. If he is favoring at all, I would run him over to Schneider's (if you can fine someone to help you). Keep us posted!

Aeriell, I wouldnt go to the hospital. See how he feels in the AM. The nurses at my job always so to go back and forth with heat and ice to prevent swelling. Its fine...accidents happen

It happens. I fell down cement steps while holding my 8 month old. Luckily I took the fall & the baby was perfectly fine. Don't be too hard on yourself.

it happens to the best mommy's! i'd see how tender it was and if he could move around properly and take him in if it seems bad.

Silly...I live sooooo close to you - I'll FM you my cell # if you EVER need it!!! Talia has also had a few mishaps on the steps...its a right of passage as a kid, and a parent!

OMG how scary! A few months ago, I was walking with Jacob down the stairs in the house before daycare. He insisted on doing it himself...he has done it before with me or DH standing next to him. Well, I let go of his and was walking backwards facing towards him and he fell forward and hit his face on the floor. Everything fell out of my hands and I grabbed him. He had a nice bruise on the side of his face and to top all off, I had to explain the story a million times to everyone at daycare.

aww, I am so sorry this happened. Accidents DO HAPPEN. Just be thankful something more serious didn't happen to him.

If he seems to be favoring the shoulder I would say bring him to get checked out.
