FDA just approved use of Pfizer vaccine in 12-15 year olds. It will probably be required for school in September pending approval . I am not even keen on hpv vaccine at 11 and that has been around for a while.

It's not FDA approved in adults yet though.
It may be approved for emergency use in age 12-15 as of today...because they are the next age group down.
But I don't think it's FDA approved for anyone yet.
It's coming soon- but not yet.

Sorry I meant they approved emergency use on 12-15 year olds. But it looks like it’s coming...

I know. And emergency use on a 12 year old. Like it's such an emergency for a 12 year old to get a Covid vaccine. RUSH, RUSH. Hurry up! Rush it to market for children!

This morning on the news they were talking about babies as young as 6 months are going through trials. They had parents on of a 9 year old child (pretty sure this was the age, I could be wrong but young) that is putting their kid through these trials. These woman was a doctor and I can’t believe any parent would do this. It is scary that society just has no common sense anymore. So much schooling...our brain gets smart but our head gets dumb.

I would argue that the doctor knows more about the vaccine than any of us and made an informed decision.

I honestly don’t think anyone, doctors or scientists know 100% about this vaccine and the long term effects as it hasn’t been tested long enough for this virus. Especially kids and adults are having some issues so what might it do to children?

They’re also looking to seek 2 new emergency authorization, 2-5 years old and the other one for 5-11 years old. That’s the immediate plan. Later on a possible request for children 6 months to 2 years old.

Still waiting on Christine’s qualifications as a medical professional... I’m not going to go back and quote the ridiculousness but yeah, side effects can absolutely be studied and confirmed. Just wondering what was the last mRNA vaccine anyone had with similar side effects which was absolutely proven to have no long term effects on small matters like fertility and arthritis (for example)? This vaccine isn’t even effective for a year. I’ve already had patients who were fully vaccinated contract covid and die three months later. My colleagues who are actual doctors aren’t all on the propaganda train and some have refused, and I’ve yet to speak to one willing to try this on their children, myself included. I’m in my 30s and have not had my period in two months since the vaccine. We have struggled with infertility but my cycle is NEVER off more than a day. How dare some people here minimize this as coincidence.

Not that this survey is even remotely scientific, but wouldn't the better question be whether the vaccine affected more than just one month of your cycle. Because even if it definitively affected it in the short term, is that consequential?

You do not quit. Two missed periods is consequential to a family trying to conceive.

18 are reporting issues
42 none.

The vaccine has not been around long enough to study the long term effects on menstruation and fertility.

TruthHurts: As a supposed medical professional who has had people who have died AFTER vaccination, how can you be so blase about people NOT getting it? I would think based on its success thus far that you would be one of its biggest proponents. Incredible.

Before you contend that it decreases fertility, cause arthritis, or affects menstruation in the aggregate I would like a a peer reviewed study.

Have you heard about "long COVID?" that can affect up to 20% of those infected? MY patients say months after infection they still have not regained their taste. Some cannot breathe like they once could.

How about lockdowns? Unemployment? Kids not in school fulltime? Businesses shutting down?

The vaccine is the light at the end of a dark tunnel. "How dare some people minimize" its usefulness and ability to save lives because it may have minor adverse reactions in the short term.

The truth hurts sometimes.

:

Nobody disputes the fact that this vaccine is so far the only light at the end of a dark tunnel, for the more vulnerable ones at least. But we can not possibly know for sure the side effects reported are really just “minor adverse reactions in the short term” and not something that may lead to possible infertility, or uterine cancer, or who knows what else. That’s the whole point: nobody knows and won’t know for years. And yet it is suddenly approved for 12 years olds...

I truly believe there are people out there who would still get this vaccine and hail it as the savior of the world even if it was proven to cause infertility, cancer and any host of other horrible long term side effects..
I think there is some kind of phenomenon that occurred this past year where all former common sense is out the window and the fear of this virus has completely replaced fear of just about anything else.

Vaccines help prevent infectious diseases and save lives. Vaccines are responsible for the control of many infectious diseases that were once common in this country, including polio, measles, diphtheria, pertussis), rubella, mumps, tetanus among others. I am not sure how this has become an anti-vax issue.

I urge you to read up on this vaccine. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccine is an mRNA vaccine that is telling your body to create a protein that can stimulate an immune response. The mRNA does NOT enter the nucleus and it degrades rapidly (the very reason you need 2 shots). It is enveloped in the same lipids and proteins as other widely distributed vaccines. It is truly fascinating and ground breaking technology. We can mass produce at a much faster rate than before. These vaccines are being used in cancer research.

It sounds like fear mongering to assume it is potentially the cause of infertility, arthritis, cancer, menstrual irregularities, nosebleeds, etc, etc, etc. Embrace the future of science. Once it is FDA approved, maybe more will become comfortable with the technology. Here's hoping.

I also think that people don't trust the powers that be. Like Nell said this past year our common sense and fear of this virus are out the window. While I think the virus is concerning I also think we do not hear the real truth behind it. I think the numbers are inflated to promote their agenda. I've heard people as well as medical professionals say that every death is labelled covid. Speaking to a Dr who said the number of heart attacks and strokes decreased because everything is put down as covid. The news media I feel only presents one side. Then a vaccine that comes out for emergency use and is being shoved down our throats. It's understandable that people are hesitant and should have the right to take it or not take it when they feel comfortable. Especially when there are issues that have been showing up. Even this shedding stuff another questionable issue.

It just comes down to risk vs reward.

The vaccine is doing what it needs to do (we think....we will know more during “Covid season”). Those who feel they will die or be hospitalized from Covid are getting it.

With regards to children....the hesitation is that adults are getting extremely sick from taking the vaccine. Many parents would not knowingly give their child a new vaccine that is going to make them sick.

The long term studies are the biggest issue.

I spent months researching car seats for my kids. I wouldn’t ever put them in a car seat from a new manufacturer until there were some real world reviews and car seats that were involved in real accidents to see how they fared. Same thing with so many of the choices I made for my child. That is my job. To research and make the decision I feel is best for MY child. I wouldn’t judge a parent for buying that new car seat, that’s their choice. I won’t judge anyone for taking the vaccine or giving it to their child. Your choice. Everyone needs to just do what they are comfortable doing and stop preaching to others that they are wrong.

We get it. You love vaccines. I do too. But not this one. Not yet.
Stop pushing your agenda on everyone and go get your booster shot which I'm sure you'll be due for soon.
Nothing you say is going to change anyone's mind here.
You sound like you work for the govt with your hard pushing campaign here

The more they push this vaccines the weirder it gets for me. It’s just too much. I was thinking of getting it the end of this year and now I’m not even sure.

Great analogy.

I am not rushing out to get this for my children either. I need more time to decide.

And this is a virus that won't be erradicated. And this vaccine is unlike the others where it won't be one and done as the virus is mutating.

If the children aren't getting that sick, and the adults around them that received it are protected now, why do they have to get it too?

Just a blind rush to vaccinate their child.

The virus mutation rate is actually slow. The only reason there are so many variants popping up is because there are so many susceptible hosts. Less people to infect means less mutations occurring, which means less need for modifications to the current vaccines.

At this point, I do not care what people do in terms of vaccinations. My county and the counties surrounding me have very high vaccination rates. I personally only know 2 people who haven't gotten the vaccine even though they are eligible and one of those people is planning on getting it this week. The other one already had Covid.

I find that no one can ever answer the logical questions that show some opposition. You either get crickets or the “it’s science”, “you’re stupid”, “anti-Vaxer” response.

Nobody seems to be able to answer that last question.
Just a blind rush to vaccinate their child.
When children are literally the lowest risk. Miniscule actually

I find that no one can ever answer the logical questions that show some opposition. You either get crickets or the “it’s science”, “you’re stupid”, “anti-Vaxer” response.

DH and I are getting vaccinated. We all tested for antibodies but that won't last and I will feel MUCH better being out in the world once I am vaccinated. I really don't want to do COVID again without any protection, it was stressful.

As for my kids, my DD is 12 but I would like to wait a while on vaccinating her. Both of my kids had COVID, the worse symptom for my DD was that she lost her taste and smell temporarily. Otherwise, it was literally like a 2 day cold for her, nothing but some congestion and then she was fine. My DS was completely, 100% asymptomatic. Seeing how easily they got through COVID, I am not in a rush to vaccinate them and since DH and I will be protected I think that is good enough.

Vaccines help prevent infectious diseases and save lives. Vaccines are responsible for the control of many infectious diseases that were once common in this country, including polio, measles, diphtheria, pertussis), rubella, mumps, tetanus among others. I am not sure how this has become an anti-vax issue.

See, that makes sense to me and is my line of thinking as well
I am really unclear on the rush to vaccinate children or to require it for elementary aged kids

I agree. Elementary age kids fair so well with COVID, I swear my kids didn't miss a beat. Both have antibodies now too so I've read that those can last up to 8 months which will give them some natural immunity anyway. I'll wait and see with them, I don't feel rushed to vaccinate them like I do myself.

Wonky/ delayed cycles and false cancer mammogram scares after second dose of vaccine.

I understand the hesitancy in vaccinating children. For me, I will likely vaccinate my DD when it becomes available. I do not think the virus is much danger to children at all and wouldn’t be in any rush if this boiled down only to the effects of the virus. However, the near constant quarantines and the gaps in her emotional, social and academic growth are becoming too wide and I suspect vaccinated children would not be subject to quarantine rules. As long as the safety data doesn’t warrant any concern she’ll be vaccinated. She needs to go to school.

Interesting! My period is a week late now and I actually took a pregnancy test because I thought I might be. It was negative. I wonder if it's because of the shot.

ETA: I'm 35 and NEVER late. I've been late three times.. and pregnant all three.

So... um... I was right about one thing. I'm never late. Unless I'm pregnant. Which I am. Chat Icon

ETA: Nothing about any false positive pregnancy tests right?? Please?! This was NOT part of the plan.

I agree the kids should be in school, Not sure why our kids continue to have to deal with this. I've been working in 4 different preschools and none of the children wear masks and there have been no issues.
