What percentage of your monthly TAKE HOME pay goes toward daycare? (POLL)
I'm not looking for amounts you make. I'm just looking for percentage of your actual paycheck (not your DH or SO) that goes toward daycare. It's hard to go by salary because so much goes toward taxes, medical insurance, 401K, etc. That's why I'm asking percentage of your take home pay.
I just want to know if I ever have a chance to work a different job. I don't even know how much daycare costs, but I need to start re-thinking everything.

I think my case is different because I have twins.
5 days of daycare runs us 700 a week...
I just cannot even imagine that that is what I am paying this year. I keep saying to myself that it is just one year, one year!

When DD was in daycare and I worked full time it was between 20% - 30%
That said, I was laid off 5 months ago and am having a difficult time finding something making what I did. I wasn't overpaid, I was average for my position. Many companies are low balling salaries, they know there are many people that will take it.

Reading all these posts really re-iterates why DH and decided that i would be SAHM. I can't believe some of these prices of day care!!

When I was working FT it was about 55%. Now that I'm PT it's more like 70%. However, that's because I'm still paying FT pricing since my daycare doesn't offer PT rates for infants. I've been on a wait list for another daycare since June that does offer PT rates then it will be back at 50% of my take home pay.
This is based MY take home, not mine and DH's combined.

Yep...UES here...700 is cheap for 5 days...the other center I called was 940 per week....I couldn't even imagine.
I was lucky though, my mom took care of them for the last two years. She is just sick right now and doesn't think she can really handle them right now. So, we will do this and see how it works. If worse comes to worse, then I will quit my job and force DH to find a better paying job.

we pay on average $180/week for daycare (nanny just got a raise), so that's $720/month. that works out to about 25% of my own take-home pay.
wow, better than i thought!
no idea what we will be paying when #2 comes because by then we will be switching to a different day care provider.

21% of my net take home
12% of our combined net take home
ETA: this is just for DD (still in infant room), next year we will have 2 in daycare-I haven't figured that one out yet

We only have part time day care (2 days a week) but if it were full time, it would be 37% of my take home for 1 child.

it would have been 50%, but my inlaws were watching for free. I'm home right now temporarily, and need to figure out of it's worth me working if 50% of my salary goes to daycare

I chose over 60,but I am bad at math so I could be in the 50-60 range. The total cost is 300 dollars more than one of my bi-monthly paychecks.

if i had stayed at work over 75% of my check would have gone to child care which is why i stopped working... wasnt worth it

24% of my monthly net pay for both kids. Nate goes to a center FT and Jay goes to a home daycare 2 days a week.
