Mom and dad. They will never replace my parents but i grew up with my parents calling each others parents mom and dad so it was never something thats awkward for me.
same here! we're Italian so my parents were always calling their inlaws mom & dad.. its just what i grew up with
that being said i do call my in laws mom & dad.... im the only daughter in law that does & i know it makes them happy. i'm happy to do it too mainly bc they have done so much for my husband and i since we've been together & they really are a second mom & dad to me

This. I actually had this conversation with my mom before I got married. She and my grandmother werent close at all, BUT she felt it was a matter of respect. This wasnt just some person, this was hte woman who raised her husband. So it was a respect thing.
For me it was a given I would call them mom and dad. However my mom died 4 months after my wedding so it did take awhile until I was comfortable using that word for anyone for a bit. But now its second nature. when I have to refer to them by their first names, I usually stumble and have to think to remember, lol. No one could ever replace my mom or my dad for that matter, my ILs dont try to do that, they are wonderful people who raised a great son.
very well said & i totally agree!!

What do you call your in-laws?
Mom and dad. When I first met them I saiid "should I call you Linda and Bowie, mr and mrs..." They said ABSOLUTLY first name.
The day I got engaged I told the, I would like to call them mom and dad. They cried.

Re: What do you call your in-laws?
I call my in laws "mom" and "dad" but it took me a loooong time. My DH s tarted calling them right after we got married. I don't feel like its natural saying it.....but calling them by their first names just didn't seem right either.

Re: What do you call your in-laws?
First names. It used to feel awkward, but I'm totally comfortable with it now, after 14 years. My mil told me not to call her mom when I asked if I could after my wedding :/

What do you call your in-laws?
First names. I do not find it strange at all. We are all adults. If I was a lid calling them their first name then maybe.
But at 40 it would be weird if I called them Mr or mrs.
And I only have one mom and dad.

I call them by their first name. There is no way I could ever call them mom and dad. It just doesn't feel right and we don't have that type of relationship.

Re: What do you call your in-laws?
This is a great question. I call them by their first names, but I would like to start calling them Mom and Dad (I know they would like it too). We have a great relationship and they're such wonderful people who did a great job raising thier son. I just don't know how to take the plunge and start calling them that. DH and I have been married for 5 months and together for 4 years...I've always called them by their first names.

By their names. I'd probably catch a smack if I called my MIL "mom".

I grew up with my parents doing the same, but I call my FIL "dad" and my MIL by her first name. DH's mom passed away before I met him and his dad remarried when he was 27 so he calls his stepmom by her first name.

Re: What do you call your in-laws?
I still call my parents mommy and daddy and mom and dad hit too close to call my inlaws that. My mom actually told me to address them as mom and dad because in my culture its the right thing to do anyway, i figured out that if i call them mom and dad in my native language it sounds very different (almost like a name) and i can live with that because I would never address my parents anything besides mommy and daddy

Re: What do you call your in-laws?
I try to avoid addressing them. I've been with DH since we were basically kids but for some reason I've just never felt comfortable calling them Mom and Dad. I'll address cards to them in that manner but when speaking to them, I really feel weird saying it. I don't know why.
DH on the other hand ALWAYS calls my parents Mom and Dad. It seems so natural for him, he never has an issue with it.

I love them like a mom and dad and we have a great relationship.... chat on the phone with my mil forever, go shopping, and so on but it just feels weird saying mom or dad or the first names or Mr. And Mrs. I normally avoid any situation where I have to use their names.
This exactly. I love my mil but I have yet to call her mom except when singing happy birthday. I don't know why I find it so weird.

Re: What do you call your in-laws?
Mom and Dad. It means a lot to them that I do this, and they asked me at our rehearsal dinner to do so. I feel very loved and welcomed by them, so it makes me happy to do.
DH calls my mom and stepdad by their first names - works for them.

Re: What do you call your in-laws?
both of dh's passed.
I never knew his dad but I do call him dad when we talk about him.
His mom passed away before we got married, so I always called her by Mrs. Lastname. So that is how I always refer to her when we talk about her.
He does call my mom, mom. My dad is known to everyone as poppy or pop. So that's what dh calls him too.
