I started putting it on her highchair while she ate at about 5 months just to expose her to it. For a while she didn't get the whole concept of tilting it back.
Now, at 7 months she does really well with both the regular sippy and straw.

I started at 6 months, I would take the no spill valve out. But DS didnt really get it he just got pretty wet. Then at 7 months I brought it back this time I put formula in it and used the no spill valuve. DS would chew on it and then one tiem he got milk and it was like he hit pay dirt. Since then he has loved his sippy cup.
I put water in most of the time and formula someitmes!
