what age did you introduce juice/water?

DS is 5 months old. Just curious when you started to introduce watered down juice and/or water. If you did, how much did you give in the beginning?

DS is 8 months now and I was thinking about doing it soon. I originally didn't want to anytime soon but he's starting to drink from a sippy cup and I think he will be more interested in juice than water.

DS is 17 months and never had juice. I don't plan on him having any for a while. There is no nutritional value to it so I skip. He gets milk and sometimes plain water.

Our ped. just said we could start giving him some water and juice diluted with water. (Not to replace formula though)
This was at the 6 month appointment. We tried a little water in a sippy cup just to get him used to the cup. He swallowed maybe 3 sips if that. I am going to hold off on juice for a while longer. Except, I may try prunce juice because he has been getting constipated lately.

DS had water at 3 months b/c we were flying.

I don't think he really drank water til like 11 months or so.

As for juice. Yes, it has no nutritional value, but I do not believe it is the devil either. BUT be forewarned, but it does take their appetite away. We had to have a juice intervention in August b/c he had it too much.

Now he gets it when we are out and about. Makes life easier honestly.

I introduced water around 6 months when I started with the sippy cup. At 7 months my ped said to give not only water in the sippy but also formula so he doesnt associated one with the other.

Around 8 months I introduced juice but its like 1 oz juice with 5oz water. As everyone said there is no nutritional value so I only give it every few days, otherwise its a sippy of water. He will drink about 6oz of water a day.

ETA: I introduced water at that age mainly because it was June and I didnt want him to be overheated.

I always filled the sippy up but DS would drink maybe 1oz early on, alot of it wound up all over him as he learned how to use the sippy. He still will spit water on the floor as sometimes he tries to chug and gets too much...

I started giving dd water in her sippy cup around 7 months but she is still not really drinking from it yet.

water - 6 months in a sippy

juice - still haven't done and DD is 13 months.

DS never liked water but started giving him juice at 6 months old.

I was told at DD's 4 month appointment it was ok to give her some water. It was the summer though so I think that was why. At six months I was told juice was ok but I have refrained. I do give her water in her sippy cup. She doesn't drink much just a little and plays with the cup.
