Yeah I thought so too. If you have to sneeze and you're in a crowded area or store, then what? If you take it off to sneeze you then are defeating the purpose of the mask in the first place.
I am sure breathing in your own sneeze for a few minutes until you get outside isn't going to be harmful. It came from your own body so it's microorganisms that you already are harboring.
Aren’t ppl supposed to be social distancing already? So it’s not like u’d be sneezing on top of someone or towards the direction of someone. Nobody does that and nobody did that before covid. Plus how often do we sneeze? Because if someone is sick then maybe that person shouldn’t be out. If I need to sneeze and I’m out, I’d sneeze in my elbow. The amount that comes out when sneezing is nowhere near the amount that comes out when u’re breathing out or even coughing and although sneezing in ur mask might not be so harmful, I would not feel comfortable breathing all that back in again.

I might be a freak but love sneezing!
I don't stifle them. But I do announce that "sneezing is not a symptom of COVID" every time I sneeze in front of people. 
ETA - and if I do need to sneeze in public while wearing my mask I keep the mask on. I thought that was the whole point of wearing masks.
Maybe I used the wrong term. Like I sneeze, but no one knows it.
I hate it when you think you are going to sneeze, and it doesn't happen. I wave my hand in front of my nose to help the sneeze along. I then have to announce "I feel a sneeze coming on" But unless I'm alone, driving, or caught off guard, I never have an AHH-chooo" sneeze.
I agree Sneezing is not a sign of COVID
I have found that if you get that feeling you have to sneeze but it's not coming, if you put your head back and look up at the ceiling, it helps it along.
Nothing scientific, just something that works for me.
Or looking to the sky (when it’s sunny), it works like a charm! Nothing worse than feeling a sneeze coming and then a second later it’s gone.

Required is to wear a mask to your table, and anytime you have to get up- bathroom, leaving, etc.
You can remove it the entire time you are seated at your table.
Waitstaff are masked the entire time.

People at the grocery store do not properly socially distance, that’s why we need to wear masks.
Coughing and sneezing should be done into a mask. Even if sneezing is rare. Sneezing is worse that coughing actually in terms of transmission. Here is information from the American Lung Association:
A cough can travel as fast as 50 mph and expel almost 3,000 droplets in just one go. Sneezes win though—they can travel up to 100 mph and create upwards of 100,000 droplets.

i have def. coughed maybe sneezed cant remember into my mask though i still go to cover my mouth when I do it!
yes. and i still have the habit of automatically covering my face with the bend of my elbow.

No matter what you do, unless you're completely alone, sneezing without a mask creates exactly what these other measures are designed to prevent. Experts are now saying that we could be under control with covid and ready for true reopening within a few weeks/months if everyone wore a mask. But precisely because people do and believe the stuff we are reading here, this will rage out of control, keep our kids out of school and get us locked down barring a miracle or breakthrough. It was/is all within our control to get our lives back, and because of willful ignorance, reckless disregard, and me-first attitudes, this chance will slip through our hands.
Sneezes travel--far. Six feet and elbows are garbage. You could be many times 6 feet away and sneeze into an elbow and spread it. You will infect people. The notion that without a fever or other symptoms, you can't have covid is recklessly wrong. And we all know this. To feign otherwise because it serves your ends and your willfully ignorant exceptionalism is....well, we all know what it is.
This behavior and these beliefs stand between us and our lives.

This I will judge ANYONE who does not have respect for other human beings lives. Glad you aren't educated enough to be afraid of the virus, but YOU not wearing a mask is putting ME in danger. Have some respect for your fellow human beings. I have news for you, we are going to be wearing masks in NY for at least 2 years, so either get used to it, or move down to Florida with the others like you.

If Cuomo comes out and tells me I need to wear one while at a drive thru I will be sure to do it!!

Here's the thing that people have to remember.
6 feet is a guideline based on studies that show how far droplets spread.
A specific number is given because society needs something concrete around which to revolve rules.
The reality is not a hard and fast manifestation.
Droplets don't fly through the air, cruising along, five feet, five and half feet, then hit 6 feet and say to each other, "eh fukk, we can't go any further. Let's dissipate."
It doesn't work that way.
Common sense, people. If you're outside taking a walk and you wave to your neighbor from across the seat with no masks, cool. If you're sitting appropriately distanced at your kid's baseball game, cool.
But if you (general you) are going to stomp your heels, write in all caps, and parse the difference between a couple of inches while you're at the drive through being served food by someone making minimum wage, you sound like a fool.
Inches matter in the bedroom and during haircuts but are we really sitting here debating inches now??
When in doubt, wear the damn mask.
