Dumb external hard drive question...
My husband has a dell and uses an external hard drive to store everything. I have a MacBook, can I use the same external hard drive for my laptop? I just want to get all the pictures off here and saved, but I don't want to buy a new hard drive and there's way too many pictures for a thumb drive.

i can use mine for both pc and mac but to be honest you can get corrupted files that way (or this is the old mentality) I think it would be best to have two just in case.

The external I just bought has instruction to format the whole drive a certain way if it's going to be used with a mac. So I believe it's usually for use for 1 or the other, not both.

different file formats for the most part...i would not interchange the two.
for the price of external hard drives, buy a new one.
