Re: Wedding China

Registered and received our China a dozen years ago and yes, it does get used for special occasions. I have a white every day set that I have used for 18 years and sometimes I add in the fancy accent dessert plate. Everything is dishwasher safe for Lennox and Crate and Barrel. I went with simple, classic items just a platinum band with a hint of pale blue. I still like it all of these years later but the set was discontinued. It was Lenox Columbus Circle. I did get a coffee pot but I never use that, it annoys me because I did not register for it even though it was in my pattern and it was the same price as the platter which I did register for.

Re: Wedding China

We got married 12 years ago and registered for china. The pieces sat in my parents house for several years until we bought a home. Since then, they've been stored in our basement. I'm sure one day we'll eventually get a china cabinet and use everything, but for now, we use our everyday dishes when we host.

Wedding China

I got married in 2005 and registered for fine china, flatwear and crystal glasses because ' that's what we were supposed to do.' We got it all. And it's all sitting in the original boxes in my basement. Never touched. Such a waste.
Oh, and I married a Sicilian. Lol

I registered for it and got it.
That was almost eight years ago now.
I think if I was too register again, my registry would have looked entirely different.
I had never lived on my own before. (except college which is so different)
I didn't know what my future would look like.
at the time it seemed right.
It's more the gazillion of way too expensive glasses that I bought that I regret the most. I really regret that.
Honestly, I wish i registered at Ikea truth be told...

i got married in 2015 and i did and have used it a few times already. the only thing i wish i had realized was that my mom had a small set and my grandmother had a set also. but mine is fancy enough to be fancy and casual enough to use everyday and i like the way it looks in my cabinet!

also in the last 10+ weddings i've been to in the last few years, most brides have registered for china. mostly ages between 27-32.

Re: Wedding China

I registered for China, 9 years ago,not that expensive. It is currently in my inlaws storage room and my parents attic.
I was the second girl. My older sister received my parents original China.

I do not think my younger sister registered for China. She wed 7 months after me.

I've been married 19 years so "back then" it was popular to register for china however, I opted for a more practical, casual Lenox set over fine China. Even still, I've used it exactly 4 times in 19 years, total waste. I use my Pfaltzgraff Xmas set more than my China! LOL

Wedding China

We registered for china 15 years ago when we got married. Have used it once and that was 2 place settings. We also don't have a DR, which we will be remedying in the near future when we renovate the kitchen and go into the garage to create a DR. I can't wait to get a piece of furniture to display it and use it. We entertain often, so I know it will get used.

I've been to 1 bridal shower in the last 6 yrs. Maybe even longer. And she didn't register for china. She opted for nicer eveyday dishes.

I just went to a wedding shower last week and the bride registered for china and received it.

I got married 7 years ago and registered for china. I have used it probably 5 times. We haven't done holidays in a long time. I'm glad I have it because I'd never actually but it for myself and it is nice to have for holidays.

I registered for a Mikasa set. We use it every time we have company. It's not very expensive and we put it in the dishwasher.

Yeah people still do but a lot of people don't also. We didnt. Had zero interest or desire. We do holidays with the "good" paper plates lol. We're a pretty informal family and a BIG family. I'd literally need 30 pieces of China. For small formal dinner parties I have a few "fun" plates that costs next to nothing but arent my everyday.

A lot of people do register for china. I only got a couple of settings of mine and then by the time I went to complete the collection, it was discontinued. Chat Icon I purchased a less expensive set that I like better from Wayfair recently. Wish I hadn't registered for it at all!

ETA: I don't display my china, but we don't use it for everyday either.

All three of the showers I went to this summer registered for it.

I registered for it 6 years ago and got it all from my grandparents who are now passed. I love the way it looks in my china cabinet and it's now special to me too because they bought it for me. I catch a lot of people who come over staring into the cabinet lol. Even though it's not used much I'm still glad i have it.

Registered for it and do use it a few times a year -- my grandmother bought us the whole set though. That was her thing to do - to buy the china set (she loved china herself and collected antique pieces-- which I now also have). No, we dont use it often, but I like the option as it makes a holiday feel more special.

Re: Wedding China

I got married 14 years ago and did not register for china. Just everyday dinnerware by Pfaltzgraf.
I knew I was taking my mom's china anyway -though it only just made it into my house last year when my dad sold his house (I had been waiting to have room - which I still don;t have - it's shoved away in different places.)
If we ever get a bigger house and actually host things, I'm hoping to use it. It's pretty simple anyway, no gold bands or anything though I don't know that I'd put it in the dishwasher. Maybe my mom did...hmmm I can't remember.Chat Icon
I can't see spending so much money on plates. I mean, sure, it looks pretty, but I don't really notice other people's china anyway.
