Update: Water test from Bottled to LI Tap. Added Pur Water Dispenser
Today the TDS METER 3 "Total Dissolved Solids" I ordered came so I tested out 4 samples of water and here are the results. The higher the number that more crap in your water like, leaves, silt, plankton, sewage, road salts, fertilizers, pesticides, rocks, bicarbonate, nitrogen, iron phosphorous, sulfur, and other minerals and metals.
Long Island, NY tap water: 063 ppm
Long Island, NY tab water filtered through a Brita: 043 ppm
RO "Reverse Osmosis" 5 gallon water sold at Kmart, Ace Hardware and Lowes called Primo: 010 ppm
Zero Water PItcher, 000 ppm.. The Winner 
Polar Springs: 027 ppm
Evian: 287 ppm
Aquafina: 002 ppm
Fiji: 138 ppm
Smart Water: 027 ppm

Very interesting.....what about all these claims that LI has "the best" water? Also, I don't really know about this topic at all, can you tell me how the RO/DI Water From KMart compares to your average bottle of Poland Springs?

Tap: It's like having a nice glass of mountain spring water

Also Dasani, aquafina --- and there is a brand that they sell at Pathmark for really cheap called SPRING that just tastes funny to me, I am curious.
I would seriously be at 7-11 buying a bottle of everything if I had that test kit!

very interesting.....
but I must say, it's much more important what those particals ARE than what their concentration is.
if the particles are primarily natural minerals, well, it's fantastic! If the 63 ppm actually include 45 ppm of pesticides and heavy metals, then it's horrible!

unless you are drkining tap from a well the water authority adds charchol, chlorine & other neutralizers to make the water acceptable. Overall I think LIs drinking water is pretty safe. Our largest aquifier is fairly safe from contamination.
The bodies of water that we swim in & eat fish out of are another story all together.

I have to agree with this.
But, at the same time the fact that regular tap water tested only slightly higher than idea and was in the ideal range with a Brita is a wonderful thing.
I knew there was a reason I always though Evian tasted gross....

I agree but we do put it through an aqua-pure filter. Has nothing to do with cleanliness as much as ridding it of the chlorine taste.
NYC water tastes like Fiji. They call it "the champagne of tap water" and it is in my opinion.
