I wish everyone would stop attacking the Romney supporters. Just because someone's opinion isn't popular, doesn't mean it should be attacked. I don't even bother explaining myself anymore because I don't think I should have to. I am voting for who I want to vote for, and i don't care who anyone else is voting for. Why does everyone voting for Obama feel they have to prove something to those who are not voting for him? It is not like our vote matters here in New York anyway! Chat Icon

I agree. I'm an independent and don't really like either candidate, but I do lean more towards Obama. None the less, I think that there should be a little more tolerance on here.

I agree. People definitely jump down Romney supporters throats. I said that I was fine supporting Romney because I don't consider myself a feminist, and I was greeted with a lovely dose of sarcasm and criticism.

I'm honestly beyond disgusted with how some people-not just on here-represent themselves. It's fine to state why you aren't voting for the opposing candidate, but that needs to go in tandem with saying why you ARE voting for yours. Simply ripping the other candidate and his supporters apart and acting like a child really turn me off.

Re: The Official LIF 3rd Presidential Debate Thread!!!

I'll bite on the General Assembly comment.

The President did not skip the GA. He was there and gave a speech. Left after to do The View for 20 min (or less) the returned. How do I know this? I live 15 blocks from the UN. I can see the UN flags from my living room window. I was stopped on my run (They close streets when heads of state are passing through) and saw his motorcade go by. I then saw his motorcade return to our neighborhood a few hours later. You can't miss when motorcades go by. They use a strange siren to signal to patrolling police (and us) that there is a motorcade coming and VIP heads of state have huge motorcades with ambulances following and men hanging out of the back of black trucks with guns. Hard to miss and very cool.

So no. he did not "skip" the General Assembly as you are implying. He did not take a meeting with Netanyahu. Wither that was because of his trying to strong arm Obama on the Iran issue or he really had other meetings. Who knows. But he was there, made a speech and took meetings.

you don't think it's irresponsible...or rather... comes off as irresponsible to the american people that he skipped out to be on the view?

No. I don't think it's irresponsible. He has to keep his media image in every respect. If anything, I'd say good job multitasking LOL

Re: The Official LIF 3rd Presidential Debate Thread!!!

I was aware a speech was made for the opening address...I was NOT aware he had returned. However I understand that he didn't meet with any world leaders, including netenyahu who requested a meeting with him. I think that is WAY more important than going to the view. He may have gained a few votes by making that appearance but he lost mine...and more i'm sure.

I don't think it's irresponsible.

Do all of the delegates stay for the entire assembly? I'm pretty sure it's common to duck in and out. I don't know for sure and don't know where I could find statistics on the matter.

EVERY president does media appearances. I'm so sick of people saying "oh he was on letterman and our country is at war"...

Part of his job is connect with the people, and yes to campaign. It's a fact that a sitting first term President has to balance his job as President with campaigning.

The US and Israeli government denied that Netanyahu requested a meeting. This is based on one article that EVERYONE ran with but there is no evidence that it's actually true.

Like I said. It was 20 min of his time. The GA is in session for two weeks. And it's not like he has to deal with crosstown traffic like the rest of us Chat Icon If it took an hour out of his day I would be shocked. And it's election season. That's what these guys do.

Is there any proof that he declined meetings with Netanyahu or any World leaders? The President speaks to world leaders all the time. Isn't it possiblke there was nothing pressing to meet about at that time given the schedules of all involved?

because we are having a discussion. I'm pretty sure this is a discussion forum is it not? I don't take lightly to people saying i'm spreading lies and propaganda when i'm stating my opinion...nor will i be bullied into staying quiet about my opinion so that the hardcore obama supporters can say whatever they want with no contest. I stated plenty of times Gov. Romney would not have been my primary choice this election year...but obama even less so. I'm entitled to that opinion and entitled to share my opinion on a discussion forum

You said it lost him your vote. As if it were the deciding factor.

I doubt it was the deciding factor for anyone...maybe just more confirmation for those who feel he's a media whore and irresponsible president.

Do you have any evidence to show that most other world leaders stayed for the entire thing and didn't leave for a few hours?

no, i have no evidence...nor should I be expected to. I'm stating my views...also the point is not "who stayed the longest" the point I was making was that he met with no world leaders...which to me...at a un general assembly...would be important. Could he have met with a leader? it's possible...but all reports say he did not.

Listen, I really try hard not to single people out but this is getting ridiculous. You wanted people on the left to match you point for point and they did. You repeatedly backtrack and say "that point I made earlier isn't important" once its been refuted, or change your point or get angry that people are harping on one of your points. I am all for open discussion and debate and I think MANY on here are able to do it. I respect a number of posters here on the right despite our disagreements, however as someone else mentioned, for me personally once you even brought up the birth certificate you lost all credibility, which is why I did not match you back point for point....and you continue to backtrack and change your point and change your idea of what is important when you are presented with information that is counter to yours.

This! You can't lose somthing if you never had it.

You never had any intention of voting for him so his appearance on the view did not change that fact.

I just think if you're singling out Obama for leaving, not meeting with leaders (which we really don't know ), and for being on TV, you should know at least anecdotally whether that is typical behavior that everyone is doing or whether it's something that's outside of the norm.

i don't feel that i've done that at all... I never said "the point i made earlier isn't important" you don't know me from a hole in the wall...this is the internet, I don't have all day to further explain in detail and privide citations and proof. I never ASKED people to go toe to toe with me...but I also refuse to be called a liar, a birther, or someone who promotes propaganda. I'm a stay at home mom with a toddler, not a GD reporter. I shouldn't have to come up with citations and proof just for you. who are you? really?

truth is...the past couple of days has shown me why i don't come on this site anymore. This site is nothing more than a group of grown women in cliques (not all...sorry for those of you who don't fit into that category but unfortunately there are quite a few who are cliquey) When someone doesn't agree with you you jump on them and ask for evidence or proof and stick to attacking the same points over and over. It's exhausting. most of what i said was my own personal opinion...why i need to prove what i feel is beyond me. I stopped coming on this site because it was a huge time waster and a waste of life and my engaging in this thread thinking I could have some good discussion just proved I was right the first time. You ladies don't know how to portray your views without being condescending to anyone who doesn't agree and thats a shame. I'm sorry...but my day would be better spent getting out of the house with my son rather than spend hours of my life i'll never get back debating with women who will only take my words and twist them to fit their views...so thats exactly what I'm going to do.

truth is...the past couple of days has shown me why i don't come on this site anymore. I'm sorry...but my day would be better spent getting out of the house with my son rather than spend hours of my life i'll never get back debating with women who will only take my words and twist them to fit their views...so thats exactly what I'm going to do.

i don't feel that i've done that at all...
