I am undecided but lean toward Obama on several issues so I have no idea. Personally, I do not like either candidate and doubt our country's ills will be solved by either President.
I feel like this election is irrelevant because (1) the problems of this country cannot be solved, (2) whoever is elected will face gridlock with Congress, and (3) both candidates and parties have been bought and sold a hundred different times by a thousand different lobbyists since last Sunday.
But Obama is the least bad alternative.
Obama inherited the worst financial crisis since the great depression, most of which was caused by the Republicans and their insistence that financial markets are self policing and self regulating. This is what caused the financial excess that caused the collapse. We were losing hundreds of thousands of jobs a month when he came into office. We are now at least gaining about 100,000 a month. He was also right to bail out the auto industry.
He also killed Bin Laden, has been drone striking the hell out of Al Qaeda and the Taliban, ended the war in Iraq, and is winding down the war in Afghanistan. I simply don't care about any missteps in Benghazi. Does anyone really think he wouldn't try and find and kill the perpetrators? And there is no greater foreign policy fukkc up in the last fifty years than the Iraq war. There were no weapons of mass destruction. Rumsfeld said it would only cost a few billion, that we would be in and out in a few months, and that we would only need 150,000 troops. That war has cost thousands in dead and wounded here and in Iraq, damaged us internationally for decades, and along with Afghanistan, may end up costing $2 trillion. That is coincidentally the same amount needed to repair the decaying infrastructure of this country. Think of how many jobs that would have created.
Obama also seems more willing to compromise. There have been several articles that the Republicans decided right from the beginning that there only goal was to ruin his presidency.
I think his health care bill has good components, but it was a mistake to try and pass that type of major legislation without any bipartisan support. There are also legitimate questions about "Fast and Furious." He has also increased the national debt by $5 trillion. But some of that spending was the result of the mess he inherited, and the Bush Administration also spent like drunken sailors (No Child Left Behind, Medicare Part D, increases in defense spending, etc.) They simply put it all on a national credit card.
Romney is a Wall Street apostle. He won't show us his tax returns, believes capital gains, dividends, and interest shouldn't be taxed at all, has bank accounts in Switzerland, the Cayman Islands, and Bermuda, took a $77K deduction for a horse, and just deliberately overpaid his taxes in order to avoid paying less than his promised 13%. He has also filp flopped on every issue, and will owned by the far right once he gets into office.
His VP Ryan voted against the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, has sponsored innumerable bills (some with Todd Aiken) outlawing abortion in the case of rape and incest, and his economic hero Ayn Rand thought that altruism and self sacrifice are the moral equivalent of murder. Just yesterday some Republican said that pregnancies from rape are "intended by God."
The Republicans also have Ted Nugent, Steven Schwartzman (who compared the attempt to properly reclassify carried interest from a capital gain to ordinary income to Hitler's invasion of Poland), Lloyd Blankfein (who said that Goldman Sachs is doing "God's work,") and that a-hole who said that women could put an aspirin between their knees for birth control.
If I didn't know better, I'd say you just raided my brain! I agree with every word.

Much of the intelligence was accumulated over 10 years but if he had said "no, we need more intel" - Bin Laden could easily remained alive today. So yes, Obama takes the credit as does his administration and military for carrying out a successful mission.

Agree. On the flip side, had it not been Bin Laden, or had it got forbid gone bad, don't you think Obama would have taken the blame?

Yes he would have taken the blame.Regardless of what anyone says the facts are it happened on HIS watch, he is our President, I don't see where the argument is honestly.

what facts? that link proves nothing except that obama did credit the seals...which he did. he thanked them...however, he does have a tendency to speak as if it was him personally. my statement still stands.

actually...WHAT IS SAYSis that he did play 9 holes before heading to the situation room at 2pm when the first wave of helicopters came at 2:30...he knew this was going on and priority was golf?
i trust snopes to debunk photos that ask you to like and share photos for donations on facebook...not for my political information when selecting a president...what are these "reliable sources" who cannot be named...and why is a snopes website privvy to them when we are not? come on...

But when you talk about being a birther, and make broad generalizations about the Admin lying, and not using hard numbers and facts, and your statements are nearly verbatim to those made by the wingnuts, yeah. I'm going to make assumptions about where you're getting your info.

Half of the stuff you posted has been shown to be false. Saying that you question a birth certificate which has been validating by governing bodies as false shows a willful ignorance to accepting facts. Confirmation bias to the t my friend.

It says right there that "The President did keep an appointment to play golf earlier on the day of the raid, because everyone is Washington who was involved with the operation was trying to stick to a normal routine and avoid acting in a way that might hint that something unusual or important was in the offing"
Seems pretty straight forward and reasonable to me.

go back and READ what I wrote...ALL OF IT. not just the one sentence you choose to twist to fit your needs to promote your own political agenda...

and no, not half the stuff...only the birth certificate comment which was not even close to the main point of anything i said in the post you keep citing it from. But it's always easy to take one sentence and use that as your weapon rather than address any of the other ACTUAL issues. why? because you don't have an answer for them...so keep going with the birther thing. I know where I stand on thats issue and thats all that matters.

I thanked the person who showed me the link rebuking the birth certificate...that information was not out at the time the layers video came out nor during the duration of the time i took interest in it. I also clearly stated that the citizenship was not my concern...it was the agenda behind falsifying a document IF THE DOCUMENT HAD INDEED BEEN FALSE that concerned me.

Snopes uses "reliable sources" in reference to the email, which said that "reliablke sources" said the opposite.
Snopes lists their sources at the bottom

Seems pretty straight forward and reasonable to me.

Half of the stuff you posted has been shown to be false. Saying that you question a birth certificate which has been validating by governing bodies as false shows a willful ignorance to accepting facts. Confirmation bias to the t my friend.

right and I was not blaming Obama for giving Obama credit, it was the poster I orginally quoted? I get it, it was on HIS "watch" but the orders were approved by him, they did not come from him. He pulled the trigger on Military orders and intelligence.

Actually there are quite a few Romney supporters who speak intelligently, using facts that I have had several friendly debates with. It is lies, rumors, and the general made up nonsense that I think us condescending women have zero tolerance for.

what websites? what websites have i posted? what was false besides the birth certificate...stop dancing around and tell me specifically. and don't try to disprove it by citing a leftist website either.
I talked about my husband being out of work for a year and a half and union plumbers having over half their workers out of a job...was THAT false?
I talked about how i didn't like that obama sent canned responses to military families who lost loved ones...was THAT false?
I talked about how I don't like that he makes so many public appearances and how he snubbed the UN general assembly to be on the view and how it was irresponsible...was THAT false?
I talked about how he LIED about Libya...that wasn't proven false the only arguement brought up to refute that was "it's hard to know whats what in a situation like that" and "we have alot of balls to expect the government to give us all the information on security details"....opinion...nothing proven false about what i said.

I started by posting links re: specific instances where russia recently posed a threat to the US bc obama scoffed at romney during the debate recalling romney as saying russia was our biggest threat. Romney claimed Obama was misrepresenting him but i posted those links to show that he wasn't exactly off the mark if he did say that. no falsifications there.
The next thing I said was about the bayonets and how bayonets ARE currently used in the military...so i didn't agree with obama's little joke or zing comparing ships to horses and bayonets. Some people argued that thats not what obama meant...thats fine...I also stated it was a "silly little tidbit not at all important in the grand scheme of the debate" but this is more of a subjective issue depending on how you took obama's comment...he may or may not have meant it as a comparison to mean that ships are as obsolete as horses and bayonets...whatever...subjective...not important
I engaged in discussion re: how i felt obama definitely lost votes among naval populated areas like VA with the ships comment...this is opinion...but probably / most likely true seeing as though media reported it immediately that that comment struck a sour note with naval forces and could hurt him
i then posted my personal beliefs on why i can't vote for obama...which included the 1st part of this post in which YES I did throw in a comment asking "what the heck was up with that joke of a birth certificate with all the photoshop layers?" someone posted a snoped site that even had a few videos to refute. I watched 1 of those videos, read the info and thanked the poster, stating i'd like to try it again and see what that person is seeing since it had been so long. This was about the part where the name calling and obama supporters were on the defensive. I explained that I wasn't concerned so much with citizenship but since i had seen the claims that it was fake and I myself did see the layers which at the time they said there was NO SCANNING PROGRAM CAPABLE OF DOING what the snopes debunking video attributed to scanning programs...I questioned why if they were going to elect to put out his birth certificate (which they didn't have to) why they would put something that was so blatantly false. There is more information now that I was not aware of (sorry I was busy having a baby and being a first time mom to check up on this for more than the month that I did) and I acknowledged that info and said i was grateful for it.
so let's see...what else ya got?

I wish everyone would stop attacking the Romney supporters. Just because someone's opinion isn't popular, doesn't mean it should be attacked. I don't even bother explaining myself anymore because I don't think I should have to. I am voting for who I want to vote for, and i don't care who anyone else is voting for. Why does everyone voting for Obama feel they have to prove something to those who are not voting for him? It is not like our vote matters here in New York anyway!

ITA with this. I think this is partly how Obama got elected and may get reelected. Too many people really glorify him being the first black president, as well as the democratic "change" from republican Bush (and Romney lumped in to that now as well). I seriously think no matter how this man does, what he says, etc, too many people want to jump on the Obama train b/c they just equate him being BLACK and DEMOCRAT as the best choice for anyone who is not a "rich, white old man".
And before anyone attacks me, I am not saying YOU. I don't know what anyone's specific reasons are but I do KNOW PLENTY of people FALL into the category I described above.
