teen girls going around looking like ladies of the night...
I'm being kind in that subject line. Just saw a fb pic of a dad with teen dtr and its just craziness.
I mean, i would sneak out and dress in mini skirts, but not the kind that are painted on, and not in spike heels. And not flaunt it in front of my parents, then put on fb as if to say yeah ive got cool parents look at what i go around in in front of them.
That is all.

Re: teen girls going around looking like ladies of the night...
I remember when I was young and my parents used to FREAK OUT over my clothes. I thought I looked cute and my father would make me change. Painted on jeans, belly shirts and heeled boots seem tame by today's standards.. I think my dad would have an apoplectic FIT if I wore what my nieces wear.
And what is it that they wear? A friends daughter (17) left the house the other day in hot pants and what essentially amounted to a bra. She is .. gifted.. in the boob department. I couldn't even believe she left the house in that outfit. And she goes to these clubs where it's 18 to party - 21 to drink.. but dressed like that she has no problem getting older guys to buy her all the drinks she wants and comes home at 3am drunk off her backside.
I get that each generation thinks the next one has inappropriate clothes by comparison. My mom grew up in the 50's and her mother was horrified when my mother wore pants - they were too risque. The thing that seems 'different' to me is that now these young adults don't seem to have the same fear or respect or whatever for their parents. Whatever happened to sneaking out with your slutty clothes in a backpack and changing in the car? Whatever happened to sneaking back into the house around curfew so your parents HOPEFULLY wouldn't see your glassy eyes and know you'd been drinking? It just seems like the now generation is much more brazen.
Or maybe I'm just old!

Yeah! Ugh, tell me about it! I had a girl a few years ago that I had to ask the AP to do an intervention on after two "maldrobe malfunctions" (yes the same kind Janet had except no Justin to help)
They also wear this super light layering camis and thing they are tops to be worn alone. Not to mention stashing their phones in their boobs for all to see. Makes me nuts.
Also, clear heels...didn't they see the Chris Rock bit on them??

Re: teen girls going around looking like ladies of the night...
I just saw a young girl walking to school on my way to work in a skirt that barely covered her rear end. And the whole time she's walking she's pulling the hem of her skirt down to keep herself covered. I couldn't help but wonder how she planned to sit in it. Makes me scared to have a DD in this day and age.

Re: teen girls going around looking like ladies of the night...
We went out to dinner last night at Outback and my DH noticed a teen girl not more than 14 with her parents and she was wearing the shortest shorts. He said that he could see her butt cheeks. He didn't understand how the parents were ok with her wearing that and that would never fly with our DD. I said that some parents (mothers) buy these items for their daughters because it is like they are reliving their lives through their kids.
I told him that I would never buy anything like that for DD and if I found anything like that in her room she would be grounded!

I get that each generation is different, but I find all of this ridiculous. To me, it's a sign of how little respect the youth have today for parents and how brazen they are and how little parenting is actually done now.
Yes, I would try to dress inappropriately when I was younger too but I did not flaunt it in front of my parents as they proudly looked on. We snuck out and changed, because a part of us were still ashamed of it and would be mortified if our parents found out. Today's kids seem to think it's perfectly okay and to hell with what parents say.
I have a daughter and I certainly don't want her going out like that. It's asking for trouble.

Re: teen girls going around looking like ladies of the night...
I don't get what parents are thinking letting their teenage daughters go out dressed the way they are. I can't fathom that ALL of them are sneaking out their houses dressed one way and then walking around town another.
I mean some of these girls look like they just hit puberty yesterday and they walked out of their houses with shorts so short you can see their asss cheeks hanging out and shirts that are 2 sizes too small.
Who is giving them the money for these clothes? Are these teenagers also doing all their own laundry and their parents truly have no clue these articles of clothing exsit?

well i must be old too! i agree with all of this! and i lived in an apartment growing up and STILL snuck in before my folks knew any better! yes i did change my clothes outside but I knew what street walkers wore and would not go that route. Short skirt yes, but not with my %$%%^hanging out. Or my boobs out!
And she's like flaunting her azz in the photo with daddy! ewwwwwwwwww!!! W T F

Re: teen girls going around looking like ladies of the night...
Yup!
I am APPALLED by what I see on my 12 year old nieces FB. APPALLED!
They aren't even teens yet.
Do you know what she was for Halloween this year? A HOOTER'S WAITRESS! I shit you not. A full on Hooter's Girl with the short shorts, super tight, low cut shirt, etc 12 years old. I wanted to die
The dresses they wear to bar mitzvah's, dances, etc are INSANE. So short, so tight, 6 inch heels. They look like they are in their 20's.
I am very worried about my DD getting to that age. It makes me sick actually.
ETA- i remember when I was 21 years old and living at home. I was 21 and my mom STILL had a fit over what I was going out to the clubs in. I resorted to changing in the car, like eveyrone said. But I was 21 and she STILL gave me a hard time about my clothes. I can't imagine it at 12 or 13 or 14!!!

Bingo! At least that's the story with my Aunt & cousin. My cousin could easily pass for 25 in the outfits she wears. Designer EVERYTHING, 4 inch heels, belly shirts, etc. I know with 100% certainty she has a fake ID. She goes out in the city. All funded by her parents -she doesn't have a job.
It's scary.

Re: teen girls going around looking like ladies of the night...
Not for nothing, I don't approve of the way these girls dress either, but I find it difficult to find shorts for ME that aren't cut so short my arse hangs out. And NO ONE would enjoy THAT view.
I really believe it's what's available for girls these days.

YUP! And the funny thing is- a few weeks before Halloween she was posting on FB that she had found her Halloween costume and she was gonna be a Hooter's Girl. I really thought it was a joke.. But lo and behold- Halloween comes and the pics go up- there she was in full on Hooter's regalia! I almost vomitted! And who is paying for this? She has no job. Has to be the parents. My SIL. Gotta love it!

Disgusting. Isn't there a dress code!? They should be sent home and taught to wear appropriate clothing.
It makes me sick.
I was horrified with what the girls were wearing at my cousin's Sweet 16. Their dresses left nothing to the imagination- barely covering their arses. Don't get me started on how they were dancing

Re: teen girls going around looking like ladies of the night...
If you look like trash then you will attract
trash. period. When I was growing up I had
hand me downs from my older sisters &
they were Sears Surplus clothes that my
dad (a cop at the time) purchased and of
course approved.
Even boys dress like they wanna be thugs
these days..pants so low their underwear
and azz are out..WTH is that?
ps: my dad cut or burned any clothes he
found that were no appropriate!

And how little respect they have for themselves.
I was getting shorts for DS (4) in Target. I walked thru the junior department. DS's shorts were LONGER than the size 7 junior shorts
ETA: I also saw a girl in the salon yesterday, 12, get highlights and her eye brows waxed. Her mom paid and okayed everything, even tried to get the 10 year old to wax her eye brows.
Another customer overheard a converstaion she was having on her phone - she couldn't even repeat it.

I think with each generation, we push the envelope more.. What is "acceptable" to wear nowadays would be considered totally slutty back when my mom was little...

Apparently the next step is naked. Honestly it's disgusting. Even for my 4 YO DD some of the shorts they sell are so short I may as well let her walk around in her underwear. So disgusting that parents would allow their tweens and teens wear some of this stuff yet alone buy it for them. Over my dead body. You can be stylish and tasteful at the same time.
ETA: IMO a lot of this behavior is being glorified because these little girls see these reality shows like Kardashians, Jersey Shore, etc. Society glorifies these shows...how can we expect our kids not too? Crazy.
