Spinoff to boy potty training- standing up or sitting down?

DS is definitely showing signs of wanting to be potty trained. He will be 2 next month. The thing is, he want to go "pee-pee like daddy". So we've been having him stand and pee into his little potty. I have yet to read any books on this, but for any BTDT moms, is this ok? I see all these potty seats with splash-guards and I'm assuming that's because boys are sitting. Did anyone else have them stand right away? How did you transition them to the big potty then? TIA!

I don't see why it wouldn't be ok.

I trained DS to sit and now 5 months later am trying to figure out how to teach him to stand. So in my opinion you are eliminating a step!

We attempted the sit down training method but we got no where... so he pees standing.... trust me MUCH easier when you are out and about... no worries about them having to sit on the toilet.

the only thing i found is difficult is when they have to poop (but dont go by me, my DS is autistic). AJ still doesnt love to sit, but i kinda have to force him to sit when he poops

DS sits, but honestly, only bc our toilet it too high for him and I get nervous having him stand on a step stool to go. I am scared of him falling. However, he stands at my parents, inlaws, and I think he stands at school. I think whatever way you are comfortable with

He sits...he's too small to reach the toilet standing and I also am nervous about the stepstool...besides, I find it easier because he poops sitting also.

DS sits, because sometimes poop comes out as well. Plus its easier in public when the toilets are high and no stools are available to stand on. When he gets a little taller he can stand. He does occasionally.

I'm teaching him how to sit for now. What I can't figure out, is why someone would buy this (from One Step Ahead):
