Oh, yes...they say that they only use water on themselves and especially their "private areas" as that is what drs. say to do. Never met a dr. that said that and the only reason I have found online is that you can get an infection from some things, which I know BUT wouldn't you just find something that suited you??
Two doctors have told me not to use soap down there.
I'm not saying I listened, but I've heard gynecologists say not to use soap down there, as it is drying and irritating. I DO believe they are probably telling the truth about hearing it from their doctors.
ETA -- I've never heard doctors recommend not using soap everywhere else... I DO use soap daily -- actually I normally shower twice a day between riding and working out... and I use soap both times.

Yes, one of them said that too about the shampoo. These women are just NOT clean overall-their homes are disgusting too.

Re: Spinoff of washing your kids-do YOU use soap?
I know some people who use soap on their bodies, but their doctor told them that only water is necessary for the private parts so they don't use soap there. I use soap everywhere. I wouldn't feel clean without it.

Re: Spinoff of washing your kids-do YOU use soap?
I was once told by a doctor (a dermatologist) that the only places people NEED to soap up are armpits and feet.
Maybe it's true, but I don't follow that advice!

Re: Spinoff of washing your kids-do YOU use soap?
when docs tell you not to put soap on your privates what they really mean is don't scrub it in a way that will lead to the soap going inside which can cause UTIs and yeast infections.....you can put soap but just be careful and don't use too much.

Re: Spinoff of washing your kids-do YOU use soap?
I use body wash. But as an aside, we are a country obsessed with cleanliness. It comes from our puritan beginnings. Unless you get yourself really dirty, sweat a lot, etc. washing everyday is not technically necessary.

Re: Spinoff of washing your kids-do YOU use soap?
i myself do use soap everyday, but its mainly to keep my skin soft and smell nice and certainly clean any obvious residue or sweat...but in reality, skin regenerates CONSTANTLY throughout the day, what you are doing is accelerating the skin sloughing process, which isn't entirely necessary because nature will eventually do it for you. the water will remove natural body oils just as well as soap.

Re: Spinoff of washing your kids-do YOU use soap?
I have such a severe skin allergy to all soaps so I cannot use them. I can only use soap on my private areas and underarms. Otherwise I get a rash all over my body and itch like you wouldn't believe. If I have been in the pool or really sweaty I will use it all over but I am feeling it for the next few days. It is not fun. I forgot what my condition is called but My Derm said absolutely no soap.
So before judging, maybe she has the same problem

I couldn't use soap on Andrew for a long time because of his skin issues. My Derm does not agree with using soap. He feels it is bad for your skin. He said there is no need for it all over your body.

He actually told me that if I am visibly dirty like if I was just working on a car is exactly what he said then use soap but otherwise don't.
