spin off of AIDS..
i was watching Rent this weekend and i was thinking that I personally dont know anyone with AIDS or died of AIDS. i realize how wide spread it is.. am i alone in this?

I know one and it was a result of a blood transfusion after a car accident. He died about 5 years ago. It was a son of a very good friend of my Mom's.

I knew of one person...a friend of my aunts. I'm sure there are many other people, but you just don't know they have it.

I fortunatly don't know anyone who is living with or died of AIDS...
I really hope it stays that way.
 and  to those of you who know someone who is living with or has passed away from AIDS.
Hopefully through continued research and education the effects of the disease can be quelled.

A very close family friend of ours and his boyfriend are both living with AIDS. My friend has been sick with AIDS for a while, his boyfriend was HIV+ for a long time and recently tested positive for AIDS. Very sad.

I know one person with AIDS. He contracted it in the 80s from a blood transfusion. He has undergone some new therapies for AIDS patients and has gone from his death bed to looking like someone who is 100% healthy!!!

I don't personally know anyone with AIDS but being a pharmacist I've gotten attached to a few of my patients that have/had AIDS.

My Aunt's brother died of AIDS in the mid-90s. It was very hush in the family but I was old enough for my mom to explain to me what happened.
I don't have any friends or current family members who have AIDS/HIV but teach in Brooklyn and know of some students who have HIV and contracted it through the womb. THAT is a really sad reality that I unfortunately have been exposed to.

In my life time, I have known about 4-5 people. Only one has passed away.
