Its sad to see that on both sides, whether it is a snide comment about watery eyes, marrying up, or accusations about relationships with terrorists, that the true desire of this post couldn't stay true.
So with that said, I'll say...that I think he and his wife are intelligent, thoughtful people, great parents and truly have a desire to bring about change in this country.
YES it is both sides...there were snide comments said about McCain as well and the post say one genuine postive thing
there were some snide comments but they do not compare to calling someone a terriost, not directly of course, but still......

I especially respect McCain's military service and admire the strength he must have shown while a POW.

Anywho, I understand the desire and need to change what I said, however, I love this country. Im the daughter and wife of U.S. Marine's who both fought in wars, wars that are deemed "senseless" by many many people who wouldn't dare put on a U.S. Armed Forces uniform, so I will be dammed if I do not question a man who acknowledges affiliations with known terrorists and racists and if this makes me bad, then so be it. I did not call Obama a terrorist, you are using that to deflect a valid concern. However, I would not want to be in the same room as someone like Bill Ayers and if you wouldn't have a problem being around him, then Im afraid of you too.

I admire Barack's passion and his ambitions, which I believe are truly borne out of his desire to really improve life in America for most Americans.
ITA.
Honestly, I think that this is the first election (IMO, of course) in a longggg time where i believe that BOTH candidates are running because they have a true desire to make this country better- not simply because of some self-serving agenda. There are issues and platforms for each of them that i disagree with. They both have their faults and, at the end of the day, they're both still politicians but i think both are good men and either would make a fine president. Whoever gets the job will certainly have their work cut out for them- I'm actually not envious of the winner at all

Obama has the ability to make hanging out with terrorists and racists seem acceptable. That is super clever and crafty. Bravo
I was going to post something pro-McCain here, but I need to address this first.
Blatant ignorance. I'm sorry, but when you say things like that, you show everyone that a) you're willing to buy whatever the GOP will feed to you and b) you're just a little uneducated about this candidate.
THIS is what scares me about this election...too many people with too little knowledge are voting.
If you are going to vote McCain, fine...but please make it an INFORMED decision...not one based on propaganda that has been fed to you through the media. That just shows very little intelligence on your part.
If you're going to try to associate a presidential candidate with terrorists, please know what you're talking about. Thanks.
Rant over.
I work with a young child with Asperger's Syndrome who believes everything he reads, and interprets things in odd ways. He is convinced if Obama gets elected, he will make all the white people slaves because thats what whites did to blacks and he will want payback. It's one thing when someone with a disability says something like that, but I am really starting to wonder about the functioning level of some people.....

you are unbelievable......
Thank You
but lemme ask you this, does Obama not admit to being friends with Ayers (a terrorist) and Wright ( a racist)? And yet everyone loves him? So how am I wrong? I think he is very smart and clever not many people could have gotten this far with that history. And this is all fact. So take it out on me if you must, but show me your friends and Ill tell you who you are...
The thread was say something NICE about the other candidate.....Just try to do it.
I did, he is brilliant
ETA: oh and why am I being attacked when there were a bunch of posts, before mine, makng fun of McCain and his breathing?
right
because making fun of mccains breathing is SUCH a fair comparison to putting obama in the same category as terrorists and racists.....
RIIIIIGHT
got it
Im questioning his affiliations, sorry if that is wrong and unexpected.
Do it on another thread - this thread was for none of that.
I forgot to say the most important thing. McCain has a HOT wife!!!

Agree with last poster.
Also, who are all these other terrorists Obama is friends with? We've heard about Ayers, but I notice terrorists plural in many of these posts. So who are the others?
IMO a lot of time is being wasted discussing Ayers. From everything I have read, their interactions have been minimal. I have sat on many committees and presented at conferences with other people. I did not know the other people on the committee or at the conference at all outside of the work we did. So I do believe you can work with someone in this capacity and not "pal around with them."
People are grasping at straws.

Re: Say ONE genuinely positive thing about the presidential candidate you are NOT voting for....
i honestly don't know who i'm voting for. i know the facts, understand both sides, and i'm just not sure. but to be fair i'd like to say something kind about both of them.
i have incredible respect for anyone who loves his country so much that he is willing to put his life on the line. BOTH of the men are potential targets (as presidents sadly always are) and love this nation and want this with incredible fire. enough to put themselves on the line like that. i find them both very passionate and charismatic.

Re: Say ONE genuinely positive thing about the presidential candidate you are NOT voting for....
Back to positive...
I am still undecided, but for each:
McCain: I admire a long history of bipartisanship and reform and think he really loves America and Americans. I agree with those that have said he has changed some in this election and hope he would govern more moderately.
Obama: I think he is very smart and clearly very charismatic and he seems to genuniely want to change this country for the better. I also think his lead in the polls represents a fantastic (and honestly pleasantly suprising) point in American history.
Either way, I think that for all the "drama" and negativity of the campaigns, Americans haven't been this energized or involved in the political process in a long time and I think that is a positive resutl no matter who wins.

Posters such as yourself keep it going when if you just ignored what you didnt like, it would be over with by now. If you keep directing posts towards me then I will keep replying.
