electrolux oxygen vac.... it has bags and extra hepafilters.... it's very strong, light, and very reliable. It's also cute

I just bought a Kenmore canister vacuum from Sears (one of the more expensive models too) and I am not that happy with it - so I don't recommend it.

Dyson Animal DC 17
We had a Hoover before this one...and it was amazing how much the Hoover was not picking up. The dyson is amazing...It almost feels like your breathing cleaner air because it sucks up so much!

i have the dyson slim, it's $$$ but well worth it. we can do our whole apartment without emptying the canister and there are no bags.
the only thing is that the wheels turn very well, so well that you need to get used to it so it doesn't move all over the place.
ETA: we got it at fortunoff, and they accepted a 20% off coupon from BBB, so instead of being $470, it was $376.
