Question for those who eat Sushi?
If you get a roll, like a spider roll or a specialty roll that is large, do you always eat the pieces in one mouthful or do you eat half (or as much as you can) and then eat the other half?
The reason I ask is because I am eating a spider roll and it's huge and I can't get the pieces in my mouth at one time! haha
Also -someone once told me that you are suppose to eat sushi piece by piece and not half a piece...

I eat what i can, so like 1/2. But I was also told by a friend from Japan that you are supposed to eat the whole thing. And it is improper not to, ohwell.

me either!!! I don't get it!! and these pieces I am eating now are probably the biggest rolls that I have ever had!

Next time ask if they will make it into smaller peices. Handrolling (even thought they all are hand rolled) are usually bigger I ask if they can be made with rice outside and smaller. most places usually will do it

I hate eatting the whole thing...but, I also hate eatting half because the role falls apart and it gets messy..
They should just start making them smaller or giving forks and knives with your order...lol..

I have them make the roll into smaller pieces - usually 6-8 pieces MUCH easier to eat

That is also what I have heard many times. However, the problem is that AMerican sushi is different from the way they are made in Japan. Traditionally they are much smaller in size, but here in USA, everything is supersized, including the sushi rolls.
I do try to put the whole peace in my mouth at once though, unless it is absolutely enormous. WHen you start biting those things, it usually turns into a big mess.

I shove the whole thing in my mouth, or else it gets too messy. I hate doing that, but I also hate when it falls apart. One of my fave sushi places make giant rolls, so I've gotten somewhat used to it, but at the beginning, it used to make me gag!

Yeah, I'm very un-ladylike and stuff the whole roll in my mouth.
(As opposed to the other un-ladylike action of eating half and having the rest fall all over my face and onto the plate).

I usually try to shove it all in lolol but with spider rolls when its sticking out on those 2 pieces i pull out whats sticking out eat that and then the rest of it
