Question for the SAHM's with toddlers

So here it is another 90 degree day and I'm really starting to feel like I have no clue what to do with Jack all day long. Too hot to go outside...he doesn't play very long by himself so all I hear all day is "Mommy come play with me...Mommy...mommy.....". Don't get me wrong, we spend a lot of time playing together or doing things, but I can't keep up with the constant need for attention. Now Molly is all over the place and into everything and needing more attention herself. I cave a lot and let him just watch his Thomas videos throughout the day so I can get some peace and quiet.

He wont sit long to play games or color or anything. What do you do with your highly energenic toddler all day???

Re: Question for the SAHM's with toddlers

I'm not technically a SAHM but I work 8pm-8am twice a week so I am home all day during the daytime hours.
We have a pool so on hot days we go in that or i'll set up the sprinkler. Lately it's been too humid to go to park-esp with me being pregnant I have a low heat tolerance. She is getting into crafts so I go to Michaels and pick up those cheap craft sets and she can paint on some newspaper with me. She also loves to help me wash the car so we'll put on our bathing suits and hose down the car and each other so we can stay cool.

same here...too hot to go out unless it's first thing in the AM or after dinner.

Normally the tv is on all morning while she flits from thing to thing. She will play alone sometimes.

We color, we build with stacking boxes or cups, we run around the house hiding from each other, we put on music and have dance time.
we read ALOT of books, she likes to look at pictures.

She has the little leaps grow with me so we play video games sometimes.

Sometimes I get brave and venture out...our mall has a play area for kids, or she has fun jsut running around any store.

I make them both take an afternoon nap at the same time Chat Icon Chat Icon

Otherwise, some things we do are:

go to library and let him pick a few books out.

Go to town pool for an hour or two and pack a picnic lunch

take them for a ride in their wagon

let them kick a ball around in the yard

coloring/arts and crafts

countless games of Memory, Chutes and Ladders, etc.

Re: Question for the SAHM's with toddlers

We go to grandma house in the pool, go to the beach, we take a music class, go to the mall, play with their toys..I try to encourage them to play with eachother as much as possible. We take a shower altogether every morning. Yes it gets old somedays and i am constantly trying to think of new things and toys to stimulate them.

Can you go swimming? That usually tires them out just in time for a good nap.

Yes, we have a pool in our subdivision but it is hard by myself with a 9 month old and 2 1/2 year old. Next year will be so much easier I guess!
