yes.
i get lightheaded almost everytime, because i have very low blood pressure (and passed out once). But, i just tell them that before i donate, and they put a cool,wet towel on my head and neck, drink a cup of juice before they start, and they lay me down more so my blood doesnt come out as fast.
i dont really care about feeling crappy for a few hours, if it means that it could help save someone

when I still worked in corporate, I donated at every blood drive. since moving into teaching, I haven't  . If my school would organize one, I would definitely do it!

I had an awful experience the first time - I had real pain and crazy bruises afterwards so I didn't for over 10 years. I went again about 2 years ago and while it was better, it was still not a great experience. I think they have trouble finding my veins. I will try to go again, though, because I think it is important.

I try to go as often as possible. I have CMV Negative (ultra pure) blood with is very important for premature infants and many other things but I feel like they are hounding me all the time... and I am getting

When I got my donating card back in 96, it has on it CMV negative. Can that turn positive?

I can't. I would like to, and my mom used to donate whenever she could, but then they said that since we lived in the UK in the early 80's we can't donate, for fear that we carry mad cow disease.

Ahhhh what are you 2 pounds over that weight!?!?!
I cant donate - I have very low blood sugar and take meds daily that apparently arent good for donating blood.

I have donated on a regular basis (except during my pregnancy) for about 5 years. I feel it's the least I can do in helping someone and possibly saving a life. A little inconvenience can go a long way, and I always feel good afterwards for doing it.

gee thanks. i know i shouldn't take offense but i can't stand it when people make comments like this. some people that are underweight have medical issues or have an eating disorder. i know several people on this board that fall into those categories. i am 5'2" and weigh about 97lbs. to me, that is normal and average. i feel if i was in the 118 - 121 suggested weight range i would be overweight. despite what some may think, being "thin" does have its disadvantages.
#1 - you constantly have to deal w/ the "oh you are SO tiny", "don't you eat?", "ugh, i hate you" comments.
#2 - it is very hard to find clothes that fit properly.
i just wish people would think sometimes before making comments in re: to someone's weight. you may not view these comments as offensive but IMO, they are.

I used to donate often but not anymore. The nurse was never able to find my veins. They would poke me with the needle 7-8 times before they would find a vein. It hurt too much so I stopped.
