NFL vs Puerto Rico
Apparently, millionaire ball players standing or kneeling during a game opening is tremendously more important to the potus than the devastation to a US territory.
As of right now, 17 tweets about the NFL, but 0 mentions of PR....
Yes, he signed off on giving them money, but PR, and family in the rest of the US need to know that the potus is actually concerned about them (we know he's not, but he needs to pretend he is).
He is such a childish little baby.....

Re: NFL vs Puerto Rico
After 9/11, Bush understood that a good deal of the struggle was providing communication that would reassure people straight from the top. Real, mature, thoughtful communications.
If all we're going to get are "tweets," is it too much to ask that they be less about vindictive vendettas and more about things that he's actually responsible for, like our fellow citizens' lives and limbs?
His lack of compassion, focus, and maturity are indefensible.
And if he keeps inflaming the North Koreans, we will have much bigger existential threats.

I did not vote for nor agree with the politics of Bush Jr but he was a great comfort in the wake of 9/11. There is no comfort to be found in this; it's stunning how egregious it is.

You wrote exactly what I have been thinking all day. These poor people in Puerto Rico are US Citizens for gods sake and this "man" child can only tweet about something that ultimately plays into his ego yet again. Im disgusted.

Not quite the supportive messages I would have hoped from a US president to US citizens in times of desperate need....
Texas and Florida are NOT doing great.... food, water, and medical are FAR from doing well in PR.

This is all to wag the dog! I am infuriated at the bull crap that is being spewed forth by #45 We need to hear about amendments to a (now failed) healthcare reform bill that isn't loaded with pork We need to hear about how the different departments are banding together to help the industry and citizens affected by Harvey, Jose and Maria What will we do to help Puerto Rico? Shut up with North Korea already

Whats killing me is people care more about a song and a flag than they do about fellow citizens (puerto rico, those that are taking a knee)
Where are our priorities!? What happened to kindness and respect to other HUMAN BEINGS!?

We all know Trump doesn’t care about PR because the people are brown and they don’t impact elections. They can’t give him anything so they’re on their own. I bet you that a lot of people don’t even know that Puerto Ricans are Americans. Sad but true. Just like Trump is a racist.

Let's start a GoFundMe for those poor financial institutions who will suffer so much from Hurricane Maria.

I think it's the fact that Puerto Ricans don't pay federal income tax. Trump feels only he can avoid paying taxes.

It could be but it's pretty clear he sees PR as second class citizens. They can't vote in the general elections so he doesn't care since they can't do anything to him or give him anything. The Trump administration waived the Jones Act for Texas and Florida but not for Puerto Rico is just mind boggling. Trump is heartless and evil but I guess seeing millions of human beings suffering is entertaining to some.

I find the lack of response so heartless and cruel. The least he could do is waive the Jones act to get foreign aid ships into the affected areas. They need much more and better logistics and getting water, food, medicine, and critical aid to the people who require help.

That's how I read it... and didn't he build a golf course in Puerto Rico which defaulted, leaving them more in debt?

Technically, he bought a failing golf course that was already in debt, and after he bought it, it failed worse, so he declared bankruptcy and left PR stuck with the bill. But, that's good business....
PR getting stuck with his failure is THEIR fault....
The Jones act is just making a bad thing worse for PR. Everything is costing much more than it needs to because of that outdated act.

I saw a poll yesterday that found only 54% of Americans know that Puerto Ricans are US citizens.

A lot of people don't know that Puerto Rico is part of the US and we are citizens. It's sad. Remember the Marc Anthony debacle? It's sad what is happening over there, took us 8 days to get a hold of family and still waiting on a few more.
NFL thing is annoying on both sides to me.. the players and the president.

Trump actually just said he hasn't waved the Jones Act bc many in the shipping industry are against it. Disgusting. Supposedly there are valid reasons why it cannot be waived but not wanting to hurt folks in the shipping industry is not even close to one of them.

Gotcha- thanks for the clarification.

Yes, he was finally shamed into it. He does nothing decent until the media forces him to.

Glad they finally appointed someone to coordinate the relief efforts. It is such a logistical nightmare. My sister used to live there and some friends there are struggling to get off the island. Two flights left from the airport in aguadilla yesterday but they were half empty bc so many aren't able to secure the necessary paperwork. One of her friends didn't get on his flight bc they wouldn't let his dogs on bc the vet wasn't open to give him proof of vaccinations. Those staying are struggling to get clean water and fuel.

Wow, nothing is EVER his fault, no matter how terrible a job he's doing, he's always pointing fingers. HE didn't send aid fast enough, HE is complaining about "a big ocean" preventing aid, HE isn't sending down the proper equipment...
But no, it's the fault of the people who have nothing, and are doing everything they can to not die.
