It was true for me. I had lost 24lbs. before I got pregnant. During pregnancy I gained only 16. Since giving birth, I have lost 50lbs. to date, no exercise, and I eat whatever I want, junk and all.
I BF'd for the first 2 months, and now I exclusively pump. (DS is 7 months old).
My BFF just had her baby in July and she only BF'd the first two weeks, and she hasn't lost alot of her baby weight yet. It's been much harder for her to lose it.
But everyone is different, so it might work for some, and not for others. What I do know is that BFing makes your uterus contract more, so it will return to it's normal size sooner after birth.

BFing moms burn about 500 calories a day BFing, so it has to have some truth to it.

Totally helped me - I EBF and lost the weight extremely fast. My Dr. said it burns a ton of calories. I am planning to EBF with the next one - in fact, the main reason I BF was b/c i heard it burns a tons of calories!

true for me-i was 209  upon giving birth!! OMG i was huge! i am now (6wks pp) 40 lb.s lighter with some more to go-but BFing definitely helped!

This was me too.. I lost 25 lbs right away... and nursed and pumped for 6 weeks and lost NOTHING... I was even watching what I ate... once I stopped... I started to lose weight.. now with kickboxing and running... its coming off quickly..
