I wanted to be done at 35... But after 2, I want one more, if I can (had a tough time getting pregnant the first time).

I'll have the third at 36 or 37 at worst. It's just harder and more dangerous to get pregnant as you get older... But as everyone says, life happens.

had ds at 32 and planned to try sooner but work got in way. had dd 5 mo ago when i just turned 36. NOT DONE - will try for #3 when i turn 37. 40 is my cut off.

Had two cs, so that plus my age will mean i stop at 3.

Had Cai at 33. I am almost 39. I am pretty sure I am not able to get pregnant again, but I will officially consider the chance over at 40.

Had my first at 36. By choice. I had no desire to have a baby any younger. I don't want any more-but not due to mt age. If I did want more, I wouldn't let age stop me. I don't believe in arbitrary numbers and cut offs. I know people who had their first in their 40s. We plan, God laughs.

Originally we were going to wait a year or 2 more to possibly try for #3. At 34 I got pregnant with my 3rd which was a bit of a surprise. So no I didn't have an age that I would stop at but after going through IF I would have probably only tried for 6 months or so at the age of 37 and if it happened it happened.

I am 41 and have had three miscarriages in the past 16 months. I said I was done after my last miscarriage but my heart aches for another baby so I am giving myself a few months to get my physical and emotional strength up to speed and then I think we will try again.....I just dont feel "done"....I dont feel like I am in the 40's and I dont look like I am in my 40's so maybe I can swing it....

Meant to say that I have two kids already - a 6 year old and a 3 year old and I would just love another one of themChat Icon

I feel like you. I'm 42, have 2 girls 6 and 3. But I don't feel "done". I haven't prevented pregnancy since I had my DD 6 years ago. Had 2 miscarriages, and conceived DD#2 with the help of Clomid. So even though I don't think I'm done, I think Mother Nature does. Chat Icon

I got married at 32, got pregnant with DD at 33 and was 34 when she was born. I am now 35 and although I cant say I have a hard 'cut off" date to try for number 2, ideally I would love to have another DC before I am 37.

Re: Mom who are age 35 and up Please come in

I didn't get married until I was 34. I had DS #1 at 35 and DS #2 at 37.

Both times, I was very blessed to have gotten pregnant easily and my pregnancies were fine and I had no complications.

DH is 4 years younger than me, and comes from a bigger family. He sometimes brings up a third, but I am happy with two. I just turned 40, but I never had a "cut off age" in mind. If I really wanted more children, I would go for it.

For those that say they wish they had them younger, I think little ones are exhausting no matter what your age. My Mom had me at 23 and my brother at 27. She told me she was tired a lot when we were little and could barely keep her eyes open past 9 PM. Chat Icon

Re: Mom who are age 35 and up Please come in

I didn't get married until a month shy of 37. And honestly it wasn't until I was engaged that I knew I wanted children. Soon after we were married we decided we did and ran into some trouble. After some help from a fantastic RE I had DS at 39. We knew we wanted another so started trying again right away and had DD at 40. After DD was born I had some complications (not age related) so that was the "no more" moment for DH.

Honestly, at 42, I still have a strong desire for another but DH would KILL me!

Re: Mom who are age 35 and up Please come in

Its hard to say. I had my first at 36 and am having my second 2 weeks shy of my 39th birthday.

I don't know that I had a cutoff. I got married at 34, and wanted to have 2 before 40. I know I am blessed and things went according to plan. I know this always isn't the case. If I had a hard time TTC, I don't know that I would have stuck to the cut off I set. It was more of a wish.

I have a friend who had twins at 44 with in vitro after years of trying. I don't think there is any right or wrong answer here - you do what is best for you and your family. good luck!

Re: Mom who are age 35 and up Please come in

I had my first at 35 and second at 39. I'll be 40 next month. My goal was to have 2 kids by 40, i have my boy ad my girl and couldn't be happier. I'm done.

Just one other note, of course i would of loved to have kids younger, but my life didn't work out that way..got divorced at a young age and took a while for me to find mr. right. Sometimes you just have to accept things for what they are and work with them..some of us will hit some bumps along the way.

Re: Mom who are age 35 and up Please come in

I got married a little bit older. I was 32 when I got married had my first baby at 34 and my second just shy of turning 37. I would have been fine with one baby. My dh is an only child and really wanted a second. We tried and got pregnant on the first try. We both agreed that 2 would be it for us. Im definately done got my tubes tied.

I had my DD when I was 30 and PLANNED to be done having kids by 35. Well, as others have stated, so much for plans. It took us just under 3 years to conceive baby #2 (coming in 18 days) and we do plan on at least trying for #3 (since we have frozen embryos). So, it looks more like I'll be going to 37/38, which I'm okay with.

34 when DC1 was born. Definitely NOT done.

Will be 38 when DC2 is born. Probably done. But NOT because of my age. It has more to do with me being a FTWM and already feeling guilty about not being there enough for 2 kids.

Re: Mom who are age 35 and up Please come in

I had my kids when I was 29 and 32. I just turned 35. We are done barring any happy accidents (note we have given away most of our kids baby clothing already). I feel extremely fortunate to have gotten married a few days after I turned 28. When I was younger, my plan was marry at 25 and have two children by 30. Well I did not meet my DH until I was 26. A lot of my friends were between 37-40 when they had their first child. I think kids are tiring no matter how old or young you are so if you are healthy I think it is fine to have kids at 40, but for me that is my limit. I would not limit someone else though or want to make that choice for them. If they felt healthy and wanted a child at 45, good for them. With that said, I think I would feel differently for myself had I not already had children, then I could see myself wanting a baby at 45 had I not gotten married/had children earlier. IMO it is such a personal choice between a couple that I can't say what is right/wrong for one might not be the same for someone else.

I like whoever said- we plan, god laughs!

had my ds at 33, now turning 35. Would love another and don't care how old I will be. May even have a 3rd if we have the space at that point- even if it means that I'm over the dreaded 40 Chat Icon

I had dd#2 at 35. At the time I thought my eggs don't automatically expire at 35. I would be more cautious & have a CVS test done early. I'd also make sure DH & I were on the same page if genetics were against us.

Re: Mom who are age 35 and up Please come in

im 33 going on 34. I had DS at 30; we are looking to TTC # 2 soon, so hopefully I will be 34 and having a 2nd one. My personal cut off is 35ish, I'd say 37 is as far as I'd go b/c DH is going to be 35 next week.

If I didnt already have one, i dont know..i might feel differently.

My cutoff is 35. I'm 34 now and have a few more months of TTC. If it doesn't work out by then, we are going to stop trying

I'm 34 going to be 35 in January.....had my first at 30 and my second at 32.....my dh and i had been together for 12yrs before marriage and when we talked about having kids it was always just 2 but lately we realized that we actually wanted to try for another.....i sometimes wish we got married sooner so that we wouldve had our first at a younger age and so on but we didnt soooooo.....my cutoff has always been 35 .....this is our 3rd month of trying and if we're not pregnant we're skipping october possibly november and december....i turn 35 in january and i dont know if i want to continue trying then, we'll see since it was always my cutoff age....but like others have said i do have two children already, if i didnt then i might think differently about the age 35 so as to have my first child
