This whole election is just a joke from every single side. The groups that are saying Trump is a racist and mean and polarizing are doing the same things to him. The media which should be impartial is for the most part pro-Clinton and allowing her to do basically whatever she wants without consequence. Trump says one word and it's plastered all over the news, Clinton says something about Trump and everyone turns a blind eye.
The whole speech issue. Give me a break. We have alot more things to worry about that a speech that sounded the same in a few points. I'm sure if we had the time, almost any presidential/political speech "borrowed" from someone else. Maybe they should be spending the time they are harping on a speech to talk about the civil unrest that is going to breaking the nation apart. Yesterday a police officer was shot in his car and I heard more about a stupid speech than what happened to that poor man.
I am not a Trump supporter nor am I a Hillary supporter but I will respect the office of Presidency when whoever gets elected. People have lost sight of having respect for one another and it causing our nation to fail and it has been failing for years.

I feel bad for Trump on a personal level, because she is not a public speaker, she's not comfortable campaigning like this ......so as a human being, I feel bad for her. I don't believe for one milisecond that she wroet that speech ........
HOWEVER, Trump supporter or not, (which I personally am not) you can not deny when you watch the side by side video that some of those lines were taken verbatim from Michele Obama's speech ....
Will all potential First Ladies make similar points about family, respect, etc? Probably, yes .....but that's not what she did. She didn't JUST discuss the same topics and values, she spoke the exact same words ......there is a distinct difference.
To me, ithis is such a huge deal, because I feel this campaign as a whole has such blatant disrespect for the American people, it's insulting. Did youi REALLY think you were going to put her up there to speak and NOONE was going to notice this? - It was either done for a very specific reason, and his campaign knows exactly why .......or, someone on the inside is trying to sabotage him from the inside.

It really scares me when someone thinks that their view point can be the only "truth" there is. This country was founded on the principle that we can have differing view points and not be "wrong". Your truth is not necessarily my truth. But I still respect your right to your view point. I think that is what is creating so much divisiveness in this country - the belief that "I am right so you must be wrong" with no effort to respect another's thoughts and beliefs. You can be a strong advocate for your point of view without being nasty and hateful to those that differ from you.
No one is being nasty. You cannot tell the actual tone of a conversation on the computer. Just because you/we in general disagree doesn't mean you/ we are being nasty.
I do agree that we need to equally look at pros & cons of all sides but the media seems to be all one sided on all the time.

Well they admitted it. Sort of. Woman came forward and basically said Melania said how she admires Michelle and read her passages she put it in the speech and didn't realize. She offered to resign but trump said no.
1) as most of us knew from the start, it was blatantly stolen from Michelle (not just a line or "oops, common phrases coincidence")
2) the wife of a candidate and party that constantly bashes the Obamas... Well, she likes her some Michelle Obama.

Donald Jr's speech last night had some questionable content too. It's not really on the same level (his speechwriter recycled material he had previously used himself) but I think it's still indicative of the fact that they like to cut corners and not be detail- oriented- after yesterday's shitstorm, why didn't they revisit the other speeches, knowing the would be more scrutiny?  IMO the campaign is a mess and that's indicative of how he would govern.

Not getting into the politics of this, but I don't think anyone was saying"You cannot talk about that here!!"
People say "Why are we talking about this when I think something else is more important?" I see it here and on FB.
If YOU (general you) want to talk about something, it would certainly make more sense to discuss it in a thread devoted to the topic you want to talk about than to bury it in a larger thread not at all about it.
It just seems silly that people complain that there are "more important things." Of course there are. Shower cake flavors (in my opinion) are not one of them - but people talk about that on this board. Psychic Mediums also (in my opinion) are not one. Would you start discussing those in this thread? Probably not, because you probably wouldn't get much of a discussion.
Anyway, just my musings on it...no disrespect meant to anyone.
