It is entirely possible that no one CAN be fired- if she wrote it, whose fault is it really? Granted people were probably checking it, but why would they think to compare it against prior potential FLOTUS speeches?
FWIW Joe Biden withdrew from the 1988 Presidential race after he was caught plagiarizing. So he did pay a price.
Do you think she would be so obtuse to lift it herself from Michelle?
I just feel trump seems so reactionary. I can see him going off and firing someone.

I do!  And honestly, I can almost understand it. Her life has never been about public speaking and from what I have heard she doesn't like campaigning. But she had to make this speech. Maybe at the 11th hour she panicked and thought she could get away with it. She is not politically savvy and not well educated- lots of politicians, American and foreign, who are smarter and more tuned in have plagiarized speeches. And they do it really believing they will get away with it. I bet she did too.
And who knows, maybe she did know what she was doing and was saying F U to Donald.
It would be hard for Trump to fire anyone at this point as he's insisting that there has been no copying and that no one did anything wrong. So he has to stick to that position.

In 2007, Obama took lines directly from speeches done by Duval Patrick.
I just a comparison video and the lines are definitely from his speeches.
I'm not sure if there's a difference between 2 lines and 5 lines.

Off topic- but I can't stand the use of POTUS and FLOTUS
I feel like I have never seen those two titles abbreviated that way in the past, is this a new thing? I see it all the time now.
Can we not just type out- The President or The First Lady?
I don't think it's necessarey to type the ENTIRE title "President of the United States"
Just President or First Lady would do-I'd know who you were talking about.
FLOTUS just sounds like some sort of plant.
It's like we have to abbreviate everything lately. Gorg for Gorgeous. Ummm ,can't you just type the extra 4 letters and be 100% less irritating?

I noticed that there was nothing about Hillary not being indicted, but people ran to breathlessly post this nonsense. It's fascinating and really gives your an idea about how people think.
She can't be indicted because the Republicans have done the same. Using personal emails, etc.. So they do investigations, spend millions on 8 investigations (EIGHT!!!!) to figure out if she is really clean, just to run her name in the dirt then drop it. Politicians lie. They have to. They play games and strategies with everyone and they somehow have to to a degree. The last nice guy as a president was jimmy carter. That was not very efficient. Part of the job and keep your country afloat and safe amid other countries is ruthless. And it's not always pretty.
People do not love Hilary. But she knows her stuff. She won't go in a country and make a complete fool of herself (comments in Scotland after the Brexit, Belgium is a beautiful city, etc). The man has no knowledge aside a "good brain". So, no, Hilary will not get vote because she is popular. Only because the alternative is reallh really scary. Other countries are very concerned about trump as a potential president. A lot is at stake. The world economy and safety is at stake. This is not reality tv.

Yessss. I'm glad someone on here mentioned how Biden was forced to drop out because of plagiarism when he ran. But no one talks about that now! Infuriates me.
As for the emails, I don't think it will just go away. Clinton supporters may be bothered by it but won't admit it out loud.

Ummmm, I'm pretty sure we have spent MILLIONS of taxpayer $$ and years on Clinton ........talk about beating a dead horse !!
I feel bad for Trump on a personal level, because she is not a public speaker, she's not comfortable campaigning like this ......so as a human being, I feel bad for her. I don't believe for one milisecond that she wroet that speech ........
HOWEVER, Trump supporter or not, (which I personally am not) you can not deny when you watch the side by side video that some of those lines were taken verbatim from Michele Obama's speech ....
Will all potential First Ladies make similar points about family, respect, etc? Probably, yes .....but that's not what she did. She didn't JUST discuss the same topics and values, she spoke the exact same words ......there is a distinct difference.
To me, ithis is such a huge deal, because I feel this campaign as a whole has such blatant disrespect for the American people, it's insulting. Did youi REALLY think you were going to put her up there to speak and NOONE was going to notice this? - It was either done for a very specific reason, and his campaign knows exactly why .......or, someone on the inside is trying to sabotage him from the inside.

It really scares me when someone thinks that their view point can be the only "truth" there is. This country was founded on the principle that we can have differing view points and not be "wrong". Your truth is not necessarily my truth. But I still respect your right to your view point. I think that is what is creating so much divisiveness in this country - the belief that "I am right so you must be wrong" with no effort to respect another's thoughts and beliefs. You can be a strong advocate for your point of view without being nasty and hateful to those that differ from you.

You are reading my mind. On FB this morning, someone posted some huge diatribe that liberals are mentally ill due to deep seeded childhood issues, blah, blah, blah. Seriously, when did a difference of opinion and values become a mental illness? There is an overwhelming lack of acceptance of different points of view (and a lot of blowhards) on both sides of the aisle.
