Yes, Sarah Huckabee-Sanders, the time is now to have this discussion. The laws aren't worth the paper they're printed on. You're sick of me saying it? The bad guy will always get the gun. Many of you proposed making it illegal to own firearms. Fine. Ban all civilian ownership of any and all firearms. How do you then propose to confiscate over 300 MILLION legally owned firearms, not to mention all of the illegally owned firearms in circulation?
President Obama, just days after Sandy Hook, issued an Executive Plan consisting of 4 parts: closed background check loopholes, baned assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, increasing school safety and increasing access to mental health services for anyone who needed them. In addition to an Executive order, Obama made a dozen or so recommendations to Congress, many of which were followed through upon, albeit not thoroughly.
So to say that our President or our Congress did nothing is just false. They did something, they came together to try and make sense of this, and they tried something. Just because it didn't work doesn't mean it didn't do ANYTHING.
I have yet to hear from our Congressmen/women, government officials, or civilians an actual viable plan that will prevent the rash of mass shootings in the US.
Sorry, but just because a drunk doesn't say I am going to kill someone tonight doesn't make it any less horrific that thousands of people die a year because of it, so that people can enjoy a glass of wine. It just isn't a piliticalky charged topic so people aren't in an uproar about it.
You didn't ask why it's less horrific, you asked why it was different. It still is horrific. The intent is different.
Most recently, Leandra's Law made it a felony to drive under the influence with a child in the car, as a response to a horrific accident involving a child. So people are in an uproar, and changes are being made.
There is no comparison between gun violence and drunk driving. It's a convenient distraction from the topic of gun control. I'm sure jenhos understands that it's not a politically charged topic because it's not political. Nobody is taking a stand to defend drunk drivers. There are no express laws on the books defending an individual's right to consume alcohol or to drive a vehicle.

From Sarah Huckabee Sanders, today is a day to mourn and it's not the time a nor place to discuss gun control. This country averages a mass shooting every day. When the f are we supposed to discus this?
She's an a$$hole. Sadly, it's the PERFECT time to discuss it. In fact, the conversation should've already been happening, now it's TOO LATE...............again.
But if the shooter was brown or Muslim she would be talking travel bans and walls

There are a couple of ways to modify firearms to become fully automatic (from semi-automatic) 1. Add a bump-stock. It uses the recoil from a rifle's shoulder position to bump the stock back forward, thus firing the next bullet in an automatic fashion. It's still not really fully automatic, like a military grade weapon. It is legally purchased in some states.
2. Modifying the actual mechanism of the firing pin to make it fully automatic. This is illegal.
3. Automatic weapons are illegal under federal law, as are silencers. However, individuals with a FFL can get them. Vegas shooter did not have this.
I'm not sure if this is still the case, but I remember a time when full auto and silencers made their way pretty easily through the port of Miami
