We haven't.
But I wanted to say that doing this is always helpful and sometimes an objective view from someone else can help sort through our feelings/emotions. I think this is something that can never hurt.
Not sure if you are inquiring for you or someone else but here are some Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

awww....sorry things are not working too well.
I think you have taken the first step to make things work. Perhaps after he sees the benefits when you start going, he will change his mind and join you and you two can work things out. Remember that everything has a solution even though at that moment we may not see it. Best of luck and if you'd like to talk with someone, you can FM me.

Thanks for the support. I'll do what I can to help the situation. I was serious when I said till death do us part, but our relationship is taking a turn that neither one of us are happy about. I just have to figure out a way to fix it somehow.

Re: Marriage Counseling

We had required sessions with the minister that married us before he would do the ceremony, and I found talking about trouble areas with a third party to be very helpful! We always communicated well, but he really asked in-depth questions.

I think it would be helpful if your DH went along, but even solo it may help you feel more at peace with what you are feeling! Chat Icon

The therapist said that I can go alone if he won't come and hope that he will come to a future session. I did something really stupid and he did something really stupid in return, but because he was reacting to my actions he doesn't feel that it's his problem.

Your problems are each other's problems; hopefully he will see that. Good luck and keep me posted!

It's good that you are open to find a way to solve the problems that you are both having. It will help ofcourse a lot more if he was to join you but when you start going, he will maybe join you. I'm certain it will help you in dealing with your feelings and the things you are going through.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this.

I think it's a good idea that you go regardless of DH going or not. If you are feeling hurt, upset, etc...it always helps to have someone to discuss your feelings with that won't judge and will listen.

Good luck.

Re: Marriage Counseling

We just started. We did one session together and one just me, so far. I really like our counselor. We kind of realized we don't really need the marriage counseling, that the problems we've been experiencing aren't with our relationship with other things, but we're going to continue it for awhile, because it feels good to talk about things and get insights.

I can see how it definitely can help. Some of the things our counselor says, It's just like "Why didn't I think of that?" They really have the training and experience and outside perspective that helps.

I think you should give it a try. Chat Icon

I have no advice.

Whatever happened, happened and I think you want to make ammends. I do think what you are doing is a positive step.

No marriage is perfect. Any couple who has been married for decades made mistakes and went through rough times. Some have them sooner or more often tha others... it does not make the people involved bad people. I wish both of you strength to get passed whatever happend.
