I'm so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you had a wonderful relationship with your mom and those memories are yours! Write them down for your children. Chat Icon

Is there anyone on your DH's side that can help a little while you grieve? When my BIL's father died, I tried to take the kids so they could grieve.

Thank you everyone. I appreciate all the Chat Icon and Chat Icon. I'll take what I can get.

I still can't believe she isn't here. I was about to call her the other day to tell her something the boys had done.:(

When I first had them and DH went back to work, I was so overwhelmed. She stayed with me and the boys every day while DH was at work the 3 months I was home on maternity.

I just miss her so muchChat Icon

My mother died in May, when dd was 14 mos old. I know how hard it is. There is no magical cure to feel better, just allow yourself to grieve. I sometimes think about her and cry while rocking DD to sleep at nite. My mother last held dd in that chair and put her to bed. That was the last time she saw/held her. I guess what I'm saying is, you will always have a million reminders of her, as it related to your babies. Just try to do the best you can, and allow family and friends to help you during these next couple of months.

I know how hard it is. My dad passed when I was 9 and my mom passed 6 years ago. Knowing that my daughter will never know her grandparents kills me.

When I first had DD I had no help at all. MIL is an absolute witch and I didn't want her near me and my only sibling lives out of state.

Just try to be strong for your babies...you can do this!

I'm so sorry. I too lost my mom, 2 days before DS's 1st birthday. (My twins were born a year after that.) It was and still is very hard. My mom was my best friend too.... missing her will never get easier but functioning will get easier. I just try to be the kind of mom to my kids that she was for me. Keep her memory alive for the boys. Chat Icon

Losing a parent and taking care of LOs

I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. I know how it feels to lose a parent suddenly. My father passed away from a heart attack at 56. It will take a long time to come to terms with things, but even still there are days it doesn't seem real. The pain never goes away, you just learn to deal.

My mom sounds exactly like your Mom and I can't imagine not having her around. I wish I had better words of wisdom for you. Just lots of hugs!

I am so sorry. That is so sad that your Mom was taken from you. I can only imagine she is surrounding you with her love as we speak. Allow yourself time to grieve. Its OK if your kids see you cry, they will comfort you. Best of luckChat Icon Chat Icon
