Update: I cancelled my JHS appointment.  I think I would regret not having the curly hair option.
I think I'll reconsider having it done in the future when we have children.

Good for you! Your hair is gorgeous so why mess with it?
 Thanks. I'm happy I posted about this because I was able to really work through my feelings on it, etc. I really would love to not have to spend HOURS straightening it, but so long as I can get my curls to look nice, I DO like to have the option.

You have beautiful hair, I'm glad you decided against changing it. I also have really curly hair, and when the mood hits I just go pay for a blow out, that way you keep your options open. Permanent or even just the risk of changing it forever scares me :0

I have very curly hair and what I actually do is get it relaxed every few monthsat the salon - so it is still curly but with less frizz - I have REALLY curly frizzy hair normally). Your hair is gorgeous, do not get it straightened! My regime is the following:
After I wash my hair, I leave in Nexus Humectress conditioner, Kerestase mask (just a drop), mouse and Nexus liquid gel (I know, I use alot of products LOL). I let it dry naturally.
I do not wash my hair everyday.
The days I do not wash it in the morning I use a spray bottle with water and put in a dap of conditioner and gel and that is it.

lol, I do the SAME exact thing! I have a spray bottle and put leave in conditioner and mix with water to make a spray! lol! It's my refresher for non-wash days.
And if I washed my hair everyday it would be SOOOOOOOOO dry!

Well, I do love the Morrocan Oil that I recommended but I am such a product wh0re that I have to try things that look good! I have an appointment coming up in the same area as that salon. If I go in just to buy (no styling appt.), will they help me pick a new product or 2 to try? You never know in Manhattan so I figured I'd ask!!!!
I'm sure they will help you! But, can't say for certain since I get my hair cut there as well - hope it works out!
I never made it there. I was about 10 blocks away. Maybe on my next trip to the city or maybe I'll place an order.

I also agree wtih the infusium 23 mention. I spray it in, combine gel and a creme, work it through and then put some sections up to air dry. Curls look so much better. The gel holds the curl, the creme softens them and the infusium wets the hair so that there is more shine.
