I have catered parties--done events for people and have a annual Halloween party for 175 in my backyard-u cannot control the weather,
Look at it like this--u are only looking for 5 hours out of 24 of good weather,
its very very possible.
I have had parties in all natural diisasters.
my dh surprise bday took the cake---total monsoon! everyone had fun!!!!!!!!
if u want fm me==I can help u on what to get and do-=Ii do this all the time...as long as those kids are happy they do not care!!!!
Ii wish u were not iin Queens or I would just come and set up my tent for u
It does not sound like mine would fit though.
I know its stressful...

I don't think it's cheesy. You do what you have to. I live in Queens to, so I know what you mean about the yards.

I say who cares. If anyone dared to complain to me, I'd very sweetly say "Oh great! So I guess we can do his 2nd birthday at your house? That's so sweet of you to offer." That would shut them up in a hurry.

MY SIL did this for my nephews party. It poured that day- and she called a few OOTers to tell them she cancelled the party ( that was kind of awkward, but what could she do?) She moved the BBq into the garage, set up a few seating areas and a ball pit for the kids, had little car races, etc.. it turned out very cute... not cheesy at all. We were allowed to go in the house as well , which was good b/c it was a very cold June rain.

Honestly I am not going to sweat the things people say. You guys have made me feel so much better about possibly using a garage that I don't care what my SIL says anymore. This is my son's party and we are doing things the way we like it. Anyone that doesn't like it doesn't have to come...

Yeah and the person who answered was not very friendly. I asked about renting tents, tables and chairs and she said she doesn't handle that department. It's their other office and when I asked for the number she told me that the guy doesn't like them giving out their phone number because they get crazy busy. But how else are you supposed to get business???
Very strange. I ended up just ordering tables and chairs...

I think its completely fine. Everyone will enjoy being in the outdoors and most people will be up and walking and talking and won't be in the garage anyway.
It it rains then you can always do a rain date - or hanging out in the garage till the rain stops isn't a horrible idea at all.
I wouldn't mind.
