We always do morning play dates. In the afternoon, I never know when DS will wake up from his nap.

Depends what time in the morning- like 11/12, then Saturday morning. If not, Saturday afternoon, though I agree 4 is a little late.

Sun morning.
I did DS bday party last year at a place on Sunday. It was a 2 hour party. Start time was 1045, Which at the time I thought was odd. But then they explained it. They have the time for the activity and then it is time to eat and the way they plan it, the kids would be eating pizza at 12, then cake and party is over. It worked perfectly and it was so nice to have the rest of the day to do whatever.
And everyone invited made the party. If people want to come, they will no matter what time/day.

I don't have kids, but I think 4 p.m. on a Sunday is too late for parties to start in general and for most people. I think many people, adults and kids, are starting to wind down/prepare for the week by that time.

We had DS 5th birthday party at a place last month -- we chose 10-12 on Sat mostly because my 1yo takes an afternoon nap and because the kids got a cup of tokens for the arcade at the end of the party and we figured DS would want to stay and play for a little while before going home. We were pleasantly surprised to hear that the cost of the party was discounted slightly if you book the 10am slot -- we preferred that time regardless but it was a nice bonus. Also, we had 3 parents thank us during the course of the party for choosing 10am because it didnt kill the day. it ended up working out awesome!

I hate parties before 11 am on a weekend.I wake up early all week long. The last thing I want is to get up and rush to get out on the weekend. My kids like to sleep til 9/930

I think that everyone will give you different answers but I owned a children's birthday party place and our most popular time was 12:30-2:30, although the pizza was served closer to the beginning of the party than it is at most party places. So I would say if the pizza is served at the end, people want it to coordinate with most children's lunch times which is somewhere between 11:30 and 1:30. So I would go for somewhere in the late morning, with the party ending between 12 and 1:30.
