Caden will stay in his crib until he decides to climb out.....
Once my girls started climbing out I switched them to a bed.

DD has the convertible crib. Just last night we took down the front to convert to a toddler bed. She was starting to climb out at 3:30 in the morning and since it is a nice fall, we changed over - she is 20 months.

I switched DD#1 to a bed right before she turned 3. she never tried to climb out of her crib.
DD#2 is 16 months and I have a feeling she'll be in a bed a lot sooner...she is already attempting climbing out of her crib...
I think it depends on the child....You could try a crib tent...

DS is still in a crib and has never tried to climb out.
Within a month or so, we'll be transitioning to a twin bed.

Mine has never tried to climb out. A crib tent would work for those that are climbers.

My first child was not sleeping in a crib at that age. She was in a full size bed with bedrails.
DD#2 when she is around 18mths. will be in a full sized bed as well.

Mine is 2 1/2 and has both the crib and toddler bed in her room but she only wants her crib. She climbs in and out of it in a matter of seconds and never leaves her room or wanders the house, so I just let her keep her crib because she likes sleeping in that better.

2.5 and still sleeping in a crib. I wanted to transition him but after hearing about the midnight wandering  I think I will hold off for now.

I had my son in a toddler bed at 14 months old, we just thought it was time. At bedtime he was trying to climb INTO his crib, so it was time for a bed!
