DH stayed even though it really didn't matter to me. He decided to (I had a private room). It was pretty uncomfortable for him, but I admit now that I'm glad he did. It was nice having him there in the middle of the night when they woke me for feedings.

I had a rough delivery and was pretty sore. I needed alot of help in the bathroom and although I could easily deal with having a nurse help me, it was comforting having him there.

Dh didnt stay and honestly that is the way I wanted it. I had a triple room all to myself, so there was plenty of space had he wanted to.

But I think it was important for him to go home and get a good night's rest. When you are at the hospital you have a full nursing staff at your disposal, but once you get home its just you and DH so I think its important that everyone is as rested as possible before hand.

I had a section and was there 3 nights. each night DH would leave around 11pm and I would go right to sleep. I would wake up around 6am, order breakfast, watch TV, walk the halls. They would bring him in to feed and we would really just relax together. And I loved my alone time with DS each Am before DH and any guests got there.

Since we are going to be in a private room he has the option to sleep there with me but I think he will just stay until 10 or 12pm and then go home and sleep.

So glad to see so many different responses. I was starting to feel guilty about not being sure if I wanted him there.

I think we'll try it for the night and if I have to stay another night, he might want go home and restb before we come home with the baby.

yes for the first night he will. With the first he stayed the entire time. Now that we have a 3.5 yr. old he has to be with her after the first night.
