Is you DH staying at the hospital with you?

We decided that if it was available, to pay the extra for a single room, and now DH tells me that he will be there the entire time, to make sure I pack stuff for him.

I honestly don't know how I'm feeling about that. On one hand, I hate hospitals and him being there will be comforting, but to be in confined quarters for almost two days (room isn't that big)..I'm not sure about that.

How would you feel/do you feel about your dh staying with you at the hospital your entire stay.

I would've liked it if DH had been able to stay at the hospital with me. Although I liked my roommate, it was a little lonely in the mornings before he was allowed there and at night after he had to leave.

i delivered at stonybrook so i had my owm room..before i had dd i would tease d saying i wanted him to stay there but honestly i was so glad i was there by myself..it was nice to just relax in quiet..he stayed late everynight so i wasnt missing him for long periods of time..hth

Dh and I have already spoke about this as well. I would like to get my own room and if I do...I want him there. I think I will be too lonely without him! And if something goes wrong...I just want him there. Who knows how I'll actually feel once I'm there though?!?!

Oh hells no- I would never ask him to sleep there. He hates hospitals, and I am not the type to get lonely. It's only a 20 minute drive home- he can sleep there.
Plus he has the puppy to worry about.

DH didn't and I didn't want him to at all. He went home. I needed my rest and it was pointless to have him there with me.

i told DH to go to work and to come hang out after. if it happens to be a weekend then he'll just stay during visiting hours. i'll need my rest and i'll be EBF so not much he can do any way. Besides he's taking off from work that following week.

He said he absolutely would if I wanted him to. I told him yes, as long as I was not totally exhausted. I hate hospitals and sleeping in places that are not home. If I can sleep, there is no point for him to be uncomfortable, but I'd hate being up and no one to talk to.

He is just minute from the hospital, so I told him to be there bright and early if he goes home, so we can have time alone before regular visiting hours.

DH stayed with me the first night, and went home the second to get the car in the morning. I deliverd in the city and we live on LI though, so we weren't so close to the hospital.

He liked being there the first night, and honestly, I was so exhausted there could have been 10 people in there and I would have slept. The room was tight with DC in it, but we did ask the nursery to take care of him at night so we could sleep. So glad I did that--I ahven't slept well most nights since then!

Check with your insurance too. Ours covered the cost of the semi-private room, we just owed the additional $$ for the private so it wasn't too expensive. As it turned out, we were unhappy with our room for various reasons, and the hospital only billed us for the semi-private.,

We've talked about it, we would prefer not to be apart, but the hospital I'm delivering at only allows it in a private room, which is around $800 extra per night, not covered by insurance. We decided we could do a lot with $1600-3200 that would be a better use of that money. Besides we live a 5minute cab ride or a 20min walk from the hospital, so if I needed him, he could be there quickly.

I would absolutely LOVE it. I know that DH would want to as well. However, I know that my husband would go stir crazy after being there for so long, so he might get antsy. Him being uncomfortable would make me uncomfortable. He would have to go home anyway to take care of my dog.

No, the hospital doesn't allow it and I rather him sleep home and be comfortable. When I delivered DS, my DH would leave before I went to sleep and was at the hospital at 8am

My Dh wants to say with me at the hospital and I don't want him to. I would rather him go home at night and take care of the dogs. Plus he snores so I am looking forward to a few quiet nights!

I definitely want DH there. He will have to leave to go home and take care of the dog and drop stuff off/pick stuff up for me. But he'll only be allowed to leave me during the day while I have other visitors.

I'm crazy and don't think I could do it without him by my side the whole time!

I don't think he will - I'd rather him start his vacation time once I get home and with his hours it wouldn't be practical to sleep at the hospital. Plus, I'd imagine I'll be too exhausted to miss him LOL

DH is not going to stay with me. I decided not to opt for the private room, as appealing as it is and he has the cat to take care of too. Let him have 2 days of peace and quiet before the baby and I come home, because once we do the party is over!

Im not sure, it depends how labor goes..if its tough, and we are both exausted, I want him to go home and relax, but I will have my mom stay with me....hospitals scare me, and I HATE being alone

I dont know yet...My first thought is that I wouldnt want to be in a room by myself in a hospital but then again I might be so tired that I would need to be left alone to sleep.

We never discussed it, but I just assume he will go home. I doubt he'd want to stay, plus our mushy affection-starved dog would be on suicide watch if he had to sleep all alone in our bed.
