In a car accident today..
First let me just start off by saying we are ALL ok...THANK GOD!!
It was DH, DD & myself on our way to NJ to visit friends for dinner. We decided to take the new car because it's more roomy. We had just gotten on to the Cross Bronx Expressway and I was giving DD a bottle because she started to cry. We were in stop and go traffic @ no more than 10-15 mph. I had taken my seat belt off because it was hard to reach her. Next thing you know I hear DH scream "OH SH!T" and hitting the brakes. I went flying and hit my head/face on the headrest of the drivers seat. DD started screaming hysterically and I freaked out. DH kept apologizing saying "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry". At this point I'm freaking out. I didn't know what to do. Do I take the baby out of her seat, or leave her?? I decided to take her out and hold her to try and calm her down. At this point DH lost it and started to cry. I began to weep uncontrollably because I thought something was wrong with her. DH composed himself and got out of the car to make sure the people in front of us were ok, and they all were. There was absolutely NO damage to their car, but our car..unfortunately had a lot. DH called for an ambulance and police and they came pretty fast, I'm guessing because he mentioned he was an off duty police officer. At this point, Milani seemed fine, but I decided to take her to the hospital to get checked just in case. Once the people in the other car saw that, they all started claiming they had whiplash and wanted to be transported via stretcher and with neck braces. The ambulance driver got upset because she asked them 3 times if they were ok and if they wanted to get checked out and they all said no, but all of a sudden their answers changed.
Anyway..we went to the hospital and DD was checked out and it turns out she is absolutely fine ..again.. THANK GOD! As for DH and myself, we are both beginning to experience back and neck pain which I'm hoping passes.
Now..I have to say I am very upset with DH. Why? Because the accident was his fault. He wasn't paying attention and in those few seconds, look what happened. I know he feels horrible enough already, but I cannot help but think about the "what ifs" at the moment and be angry with him, even though we are all ok. This could have been so much more worse.
Please..when you drive, make sure you aren't preoccupied with other things like cell phones, or ipods or whatever. All it takes is a few seconds and it can change your life FOREVER!!
ETA: And to think..today DD turned 3 months.

I'm so glad you are all OK.
Try to let your anger at your DH go- believe me, I'm sure his mistake and "what could have been" is eating at him and is punisment enough.

I had a little accident with my 2 dds in the car a few years ago and it was one of the scariest things ever they were so scared and so was I
I kept thinking what if......for a while after that

Thank god everyone is ok - and unfortunately accidents happen - which is why they are called accidents. Just be thankful that everyone is ok and don't be too hard on DH - I'm sure he's beating himself up pretty hard right now!

so glad to hear that you and your family are all okay!!!!! i totally understand your resentment of DH for putting you and dd in that situation... but it was an accident that could have happened to anyone. i'm sure he is beating himself up pretty badly over it...
