If you were to move and buy a new home
What would be some absolute must-haves in your new home this time around?

If you were to move and buy a new home
Pretty much all the things we added to our current house - gas heating; upgraded electric, central air, a pool or at least room to put one in.
Things we don't have that I wish we did - a bigger dining room (or at least one that is open to another room to expand into when you have a large group) and a better layout of the kitchen - I hate our kitchen layout and can't even come up with something better for when we eventually redo it.

more closet space especially in our bedroom, a 4th bedroom, an attic with actual space for storage.

Re: If you were to move and buy a new home
2 car attached garage. Central A/C Full basement (doesn't have to be finished, but easy access to plumbing and wiring, plus storage space) 3 bathrooms (minimum of 2. We have 3 now, and with 4 people, it comes in handy)

Re: If you were to move and buy a new home
Livingroom and sep den Bigger dining or ability to expand to other room for holidays Open layout kitchen Garage for DH Porch
We currently only have a LR. So eventually we will be adding a den off the dining room which will fix my bigger dining/expand issue in the future. And we will be knocking down a wall when we redo kitchen for the open layout

Re: If you were to move and buy a new home
We just moved from a larger home to a smaller home. My must haves for this move were:
Open concept kitchen/family room 3 bathrooms Master suite with a bath Playroom space for DD on main floor Basement Garage Central air Force air heating
The house we ended up buying only had a garage and basement from the list. The rest we are adding. It's a major project that we are in the midst of but once it's done it will work perfectly for us.
I remembered something else: If you can get laundry on the main floor or bedroom floor do it. We had that in my larger house and it was great. No room for it in the new house. Laundry is staying in the basement and I'm already dreading it.

Re: If you were to move and buy a new home
Bigger dining room for large family gatherings, no living room bc it's a waste if you have a family room, and a mudroom. I would also love a bigger basement that could accommodate a home theater.
Also, something I have that I could never give up - second floor laundry.
ETA I would also love a bigger piece of property but I live on an awesome street where all the kids play in their front yard so I wouldn't want it to be so secluded that it gave up that neighborhood feel.

If you were to move and buy a new home
Garage (preferably 2 car). Dh keeps building sheds but we desperately need a large garage.
Open basement. Our current one has stairs in the middle butchering it and is way smaller than we'd like.
Larger rooms. I would like a larger dining room and larger bedrooms than we currently have.
More property and well landscaped. Dh would like 5+acres and water access which I find excessive. Our property was pretty jungle like when we moved in and almost 10 years later we're still trying to tame it.
I would love some green features (solar, geothermal, etc).
Finished would be nice. We've redone nearly everything in our house and are working on the rest. Doing it ourselves had been a huge undertaking. I don't know that I'd want to do that again.

If you were to move and buy a new home
3+ Bedrooms 2+ bathrooms playroom on ground floor updated kitchen and baths formal living room Formal dining room family room decent size back yard Fenced back yard Living Room, Dining Room and Kitchen need to be big enough for entertaining - we always have at least 20 people multiple times a month. Not total open concept
Our house we purchased has all this except I wish our kitchen was a little bigger. We have a sun room which wasn't on my original want list but now that we have one, I LOVE it and get much use out of it that it would be on my new wish list if I was ever to move again (which we won't).

Re: If you were to move and buy a new home
I would want a huge mud room with sink, a minimum 3 car garage and a double washer dryer laundry room. I would also prefer a stone patio with built in oven and fire pit. Pool would also be nice.

Re: If you were to move and buy a new home
The only thing we would change about our house would be a second bath (which we are adding) and walkability to a village. We are looking for a foreclosure that meets our criteria (basically within walking distance of a specific village) that we will renovate to meet our needs.

If you were to move and buy a new home
Things we don't have in this house that I want in our next house (whenever that may be... ): - all bedrooms on one floor - a separate formal living room and den - room in a dining room for a china closet - eat in kitchen to fit a table
Things I love in my current house that I would also want to have again are an attached 2 car garage, full basement, 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, mudroom, and an island in the kitchen w/ stools. But the island thing won't be functional as our only casual eating space once we have more children.
ETA: would love laundry on the first floor instead of basement

Re: If you were to move and buy a new home
So we moved two years ago, but this was my list 9 or 10 school district for elem., middle and high school Cul de sac location Not on a main road Easy access to high ways Colonial style 4 bedrooms 2.5 bathrooms Walk in master closets Large closets Large master bath 12x15 Large master bedroom 24x18 Storage or play room for kids toys Living room and dining room open to one another to extend seating. I can fit 24 people if needed. Den Eat in kitchen Center island in kitchen Windows and good lighting Flat land in the back yard 2 car garage Good storage
What I wanted and did not get, laundry upstairs with bedrooms. Basement, but I am not really a big fan of basements, so I am ok without it.

If you were to move and buy a new home
My house is perfect for us. If I were to move I would keep my house, maybe wish it was just a little larger overall with a bigger kitchen. My must have would be a larger yard. For me it would take a lot to move
