I'm the one who posted about Jani. It was actually the sushi that was the problem. The sushi chefs called themselves "artists" and refused to compromise their "craft" by wearing gloves to make the sushi. They would do it with their bare hands. This was a problem for the DOH.

Family members who worked at these places let me know about them:

Kirschs in Massapequa: Chocolates are not homemade even though they say they are. People got it on in the freezer

Babylon Village Subway: Super super clean and everything is fresh, they go by the book to the t.

I worked at Olive Garden in Massapequa, everything was fresh at that one. Nothing was microwaved.

Babylon Carriage House also fresh food and half way clean.

I worked there for like a week when I was 15. I don't know about the chocolates, but the ice cream is def. made there!

McDonald's: Still eat there once in a while. Still like most of the sandwiches, including the Big Mac, the most difficult to make of all the sandwiches.
I've always enjoyed the fries as well. I don't think I'd want to work there today, as it is very different from my days there (70's, 80's) with the many new products and cooking systems. I also don't miss the hectic 500+ dollar-an-hour rushes and the late-night closing shifts, not to mention the 2nd and 3rd degree burns I received on my right arm from cleaning the grill one night.

This thread makes me hope that the restaurant rating system comes to Long Island soon!

And also glad that I never worked in fast food Chat Icon

Re: If you ever worked in a restaurant/food establishment...

I worked at a seafood place in Maine for 8 summers. At the time the place was spotless and very very well managed. The seafood wasn't very good though. LOL.

I worked at an italian place in Glen cove. The food was very good. It wasn't very well run and while it wasn't dirty, they had a bad roach problem that they tried very hard to control and just couldn't. It grossed me out.
