If you are married, how long did it take you to officially change your name at the DMV and with SS??
I havent done it yet and DH and I got married in June. I am just too lazy to want to wait on those lines and deal with the hassle.
The funny thing is I started a new job after DH and I got married and my paychecks are made out to my new last name (even though I haven't officially changed my name and they have copies of my driver's license and SS card) and we opened a new bank account with my new last name and they never asked for any proof that was even my name. AND THAN WE WONDER WHY WE HAVE IDENTITY THEFT!!!!! Pretty stupid on their part ha????
I have to do it I just can't bring myself to sit at the DMV for 5 hrs. and the SS office for another 5.

I was married in October and I still haven't done it, but I also haven't changed my name on my paychecks, etc.....
If I were you I would get it done on your SS since your checks are being made out to your married name.

I did it as soon as I got back from my honeymoon. SS took a little while but the DMV wasn't bad.

Was married in October...went to SS when I got back from Honeymoon and had my new card sometime in November...It did take me awhile to get my butt over to the DMV and I got my new license about 2 months ago.

I changed with DMV about a year after the wedding. I still have not changed it with SS, my paycheck or credit cards. SInce your paycheck comes in your married name you should get it done before the end of the year as cross checks are run with W-2s

i just got back from my HM on Tuesday and I went to SS today. so i am officially mrs. C!
they said i should wait for my SS card to go to DMV. i wanted to go today but i'll have to wait a week or 2.
it took about 20 minutes at SS and i went in the middle of the day. i had all the forms filled out already

i went 2 weeks after the wedding
that was when i got back from the honeymoon.
in all honesty it took me about 1 1/2 2 hours tops.
ss was very fast in and out
i went to th ss office in downtown brooklyn(that was the only office i could go to) and i also went to the dmv down the block from ss i was in there the longest because the comp system kept going down. if that didnt happen i would have not been in there long . i also went on a firday at 8:00 am

I will be married two years in November and I still have not changed my last name officially. I am so lazy.

DH booked airline tickets for us 2 months after we got married in my married name, so I had about 1 month after the wedding to change it.

I got married in December 2004 and did everything the following Feb. It really didn't take that long. I guess I hit both places when they weren't too busy. SS was a longer wait than DMV though.
