I was just getting Joey ready for his nap and I found...
one of my hairs wrapped around his toe, so TIGHT, that his entire little toe was bright red! 
He didn't even complain, which is so weird, cause this kid tells you EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had to SCREAM for my cleaning lady to help me cause I couldn't get under the strand to loosen it.
It was literally cutting into his toe!!
She held his foot and I slathered him with vaseline. Then I used a bamboo skewer (that you use to make shish-kabob, which is weird that I even have those cause I never ever made a shish-kabob in 10 years, but I digress), and I slowly pried up the hair and snipped it with a nail clipper.
You should have seen that little toe.
I massaged it, and slowly, it returned to normal.
OMG...I feel sooooooooooo bad.
This damn hair of mine ALWAYS falls out and I guess there was a strand in his sock that twisted around his toe.
Poor little guy.
I need tio go shave my head now.

Poor Joey But good find! You did a great job!
And thanks for sharing because I need to be more careful around DS as well...my hair is all over the place.

That happened to a friend of mine and their baby had to go to the ER to get it removed. It apparently is very common they were told.
Glad your little one is ok

Thanks so much, everyone.
I just felt like such a tool and a bad mommy for not noticing it sooner.
Poor thing is sleeping like a log right now. He's probably thinking, "my mom is an azz who almost severed my toe."
But, let it be a lesson learned...always check for errant hairs in their clothing, cause you just never know.

this happened to my SIL, so after she told me, I always checked his toes...so nutse, hazards everywhere.
I am glad your baby is okay, but so sorry you had to have that panic moment!!

Happened to my little one when he was 3 months old. I called the ped immediately because i could not get all the hair out. They told me to go get Nair and I used it and it worked!
The doctor told me to be careful and always check...it's a lot more common then you think. She said also check your son's diapers because they have had kids who this happened to on their penis.

oh no val!!! its funny you just posted this cause i just saw an article on this in my parenting magazine. A little girl had a hair wrapped so tight around her toe that the toe turned blue and they thought she was going to loose it. thank god you found it in time!!!!

Don't beat yourself up Val. It could have happened to anyone! (well, not me because my hair is so darn short, but you get the idea!  ) There was no way for you to know and I give you credit for seeing it  I would have never noticed that!
