TOB Animal Shelter is a no kill..they also list the dogs on the website through petfinder.
I hope you find the owner.

Yes. The place in Wantagh near King Kullen is DEFINITELY a kill shelter. Google " kill the kitty" or town of Hempstead animal shelter. You will read of past and recent horrors.It is a terrible place.Please don't bring the dog there.
She may be talking about Bide-a-Wee that was next to the town shelter in Wantagh. Sadly, it's no longer there.
Last Hope Animal Rescue is now in the Bide A Wee building. But I don't think they can take in drop off animals. I used to work for NSAL and NYS law prohibited us from taking in strays or drop offs, they had to be brought to the town shelter first and if we had room we could then have them transferred over. That was before my dd was born so maybe the laws have changed...

Please be careful even with no kill shelters. Many of them that claim to be no kill are "no kill except for..." or they will move animals to kill shelters.
I really hope you were able to find the dog's home!

I have a lot of fam in rvc. I'll post this on my fb and let you know if I hear anything.
Also as a suggestion, take her for a walk and let her lead. Maybe she'll lead you back to her home or someone will recognize her.

Unfortunately this isn't true. We brought a feral cat there before we knew this. We tried getting her back but it was too late...She was already put down.
