I asked something similar on TTC board, but curious on your thoughts re: adoption...
Have any of you ever thought about adoption?
Not only if you couldn't have a child of your own, but even after having your own child?
I think about it all the time...

Yes. I'd love to adopt a child from a 3rd world country and try to give them a better life. It's something DH and I are consdiering for the future, when Sarah & Andy are already in school and I'll be able to devote a lot of time to the new child since I feel like they will probably need some time to get used to the US.

I have always thought about doing it before I even got married. I would love to. But an older child not a baby. I think I will talk more to Dh about it when Andrew is older and we have one more child of our own.
I would love to be a foster mom too.

My mom said she always thought about adopting, but regrets that she never did.
I think about it, but I don't think I could do it. I don't know why, but I don't. I also never saw myself having kids of my own and 1 year later

I have thought about it, but honestly have never talked to DH about it. We only skimmed the surface when we were told we might never have a child of our own.

I am so glad you posted this because I have a DC and would love to adopt also. I spoke to Dh & he wants nothing to do with adopting and it makes me so sad

I would love to. That or become a foster parent.
It was always on my mind, but especially since have Josh, DH is obsessed with the thought of it. He can't imagine that some kids go through life without being rocked or loved completely by a family.
When the time is right, I am definitely interested.

Honestly no. I would probably have to exhaust all lengths to have children of my own before thinking about adoption. Even for having a second or third child. Not sure why. I guess if I was ever faced with need that to be an option I might feel differently.

When I was younger I used to say I wanted to have a biological child and adopt one too.
SO we were getting ready to consider it when the first IVF didn't work.
Now, as I am older and the whole process takes so long, no, I won't be adopting.

Yes, I'd definitely think about it. One of my closest friends is adopted and while she has never met her birth mother, she always says that should she get the opportunity, the first thing she'd say to her would be "thank you." Her biological mother could not provide for her and she was adopted by the most wonderful people.

I did back when I was in college. I worked in an orphanage in Mexico & it was very, very hard to leave those children behind - even though they weren't adoptable (meaning they had a living parent & Mexico wouldn't allow it).
I haven't thought about it for myself in a long time. Not that I wouldn't do it but I never got to that place & now, it's not feasible.

Yes i would adopt... I was adopted and sooo happy that i was adopted into a very nice loving family that really cared and wanted me. I have always thought about it!.... HOnestly if i wound up have twin girls i prob would have adopted an older boy! but all kidding aside we thought we never would have kids (thats what doc said) the boys came to us as a suprise (natural) but did talk about adopting!

I looked into adoption before I was pregnant. We do not know if we will have more children but if we do, it might be by adoption.
