Has anyone has sucess using vitamin B6 for luteal phase defect?

I have pretty bad cycle problems. If/when I actually do ovulate, I have a luteal phase of only 7 days - and then I will bleed for 7+ days. I know I will probably have to see a dr. eventually, but since I am not TTC right now I figured I would try some natural ways and vitamins to correct this problem... and maybe avoid the dr. in the future. (fingers crossed)! Has anyone had sucess with vitamin B6 or can recommend anything else?

Re: Has anyone has sucess using vitamin B6 for luteal phase defect?

i have a short LP (anywhere from 8-10 days) and i took vitamin b-complex, i am pretty sure it helped b/c i got PG on the first cycle after i started taking it, but i have no idea what my LP would have been if i didn't get pregnant.

after a did some research i decided to take vitamin b-complex vitamins because it seems that the other b vitamins in the pill help your body absorb the vitamin b6 better, which is what you need to lengthen your LP.

hope it works for you!

It worked for me. It lengthened my LP to about 12 days on average. But I have a strange LP. I have had cycles of 16 day LP's and then they go back to 12 days. Then one month it will be 9 days. BUT it did help average it to 12 days.

I will say this month, for some reason I am not ovulating, and I have no idea if that has to do with the B6 or not, but I am guessing no, since I have been taking B6 for a while.

Did you both take it from ovulation day on or did you start before ovulation?

I started it before ovulation. i take it with my daily vitamins. B6 can keep you awake at night so take it in the morning.
