Hand-held video/learning games

Talk to me about them Chat Icon

DH and I were looking at a few versions in Target and wondering the pros and cons of getting DD this for Christmas. She will be 3 but is pretty advanced for her age (most say ages 4+).

Do kids really learn from them?

What is a good model for her age with a variety of learning games?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks! Chat Icon

Re: Hand-held video/learning games

Oh, great question, I'm interested to see the responses too.

I was thinking of getting my DD (who will be 2.5 at Christmas) the Tag Junior reading system...I've read good reviews on it. But I'm wondering if that would be too young for your DD.

DD has the vsmile vmotion which is a video game learning systme for the house. It has wireless remotes and there are tons of preschool games for it - she has learned a lot from them! I just bought her the leapster for xmas...I dont have any reviews on it yetr but my niece loved it at age 3.

Re: Hand-held video/learning games

Both of my kids have the Leapfrog Leapster 2. It's for ages 4-8. DS is 4 and DD will be 3 in a couple weeks. Both kids can use it without problems. I love that there are a whole bunch of games you can buy, so it never gets old for them and different games focus on different things; some reading, some math, etc.
